It's a shame, really, they made a damn good wheel. I always wanted a set of FM5's on my old Grand National.
Fikse gone under?

as much as i agree, when you don't have 1K to spend per wheel, you ARE going to either look elsewhere or go without until you can afford it. no matter how nice of a product you make, if people do not have the money to spend on your product, you can't pay your bills to keep the doors open.seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

My neighbor ust bought a set for his Porsche this summer... guess he was just in time. They are awesome wheels and I'm a fan of supporting local businesses. Sadly at the poor age of 19 I'm in no position.Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.

Actually, Fikse's problem isn't so much price as poor management. They've just flat out incurred far too much overhead. I mean, hell, they had nearly $300k in orders on the books when they went under. While it's true that race teams aren't ordering as many wheels as they were, they were still ordering quite a lot.
It's a damned shame, but it was a long time coming. The nice thing about Fikses is that many other custom wheel companies are gearing up to support Fikse owners with parts and other services. ...I guess they figure that it's worth courting people who are willing to drop $4k+ on a set of wheels for some reason.2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison

just look at the E30 parts on ebay now. you used to be able to find a lot of new/used OE or quality aftermarket stuff there. Now it's endless postings of sportmaxx wheels, chinese turbo kits, depo headlights, chinese headers and anything else that's easy to copy while keeping the same look without having the same quality. that and parts cars..This is the exact reason that all of these companies are going under. Everybody now has the mentality that if someone else produces it cheaper, that company must be ripping people off. If you knew what it costs to manufacture something like that to quality standards, it is not out of line at all.
Just a little public service announcement....
Look at how and where the products you are buying are made. If you want to have good companies that make quality products to survive, then you have to support them. It's getting to the point where the consumer is left with fewer products every year that aren't made to shitty standards in China.
the total absence of anything quality is disturbing if you care at all about the future of these cars, or lack thereof.Comment

Please explain as I don't understand what you are suggesting. For your information, and I repeat it as it was mentionned numerous times, calipers and rotors are made in the US, the drive-pins are machined here from US stainless, fasteners are US-made and hats are machined from US aluminum. Do you want me to repeat so that you can digest all that info? ;)Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Well regardless of that longwinded, unneeded explanation, you are still going to pay canadian income tax with our american money, which is unacceptable, even if you are basically the 51st state.
