Search this board for my review on "Nankangs"

That being said, Nexen is Korean, but I wonder if they will be affected as this is only about China. I should call tomorrow and find out the 215/40/16 pricing. For the price, the N3000 is a great tire.

Why would you buy Chinese tires in the first place? Good riddance. Everything made in China needs a 35% tariff.

Yup this is how you bring some decent jobs back to the states. All the unfavorable trade deals have been devastating the last 25 years, because of this.

I have no issue spending a premium for a US made item, do it frequently

Yep, people wanted to pay the least for everything so lots of stuff is done elsewhere but along with jobs haha. People need to fucking realize you can't have a lexus at a price of a kia.

we got a bunch of GiTi tires at work that have goofy names. bought them on a special buy prolly. I really like bridgstone, rollin bfgs now, i like the rs3's too. ill get them once the kdws are toast.

I agree with you, but why did they start with tires and not dollar-tree/walmart stuff? Tires are something EVERY American needs, and especially in this economic times, should have been left alone.

When i got my car a couple years ago, i ran over a nail and the car had a nankang spare tire that was about a year old and it was so hard (compound) that the car pulled so hard to the right i was literally fighting with the car to stay on the road, and parking lots it would just squeal even when properly inflated. I had to overinflate the tire to keep the car straight :(
Because of that bad experience, i will never ever use a Nankang if my life depended on it. How a company can make a tire with so little grip is beyond me, though i dont remember which tire it was specifically-i dont really care.

If tires arent around 450 a set at the least, i wont buy them (though i know there are crappy expensive tires). I tend to stick with BF Goodrich and Bridgestone only. The two things i dont cheap out on are tires and brakes.

Nobody mentioned the LING LONG tires? LOL!

you must have failed history class too

go look up what happened to global trade, and the global economy after all the protectionist policies/tariffs/trade restrictions in the aftermath of the 1930s financial crisis. It wasn't until WWII that we pulled out of that mess. This is basically the 1930s all over again. The sad part is the government has caused about 90% of this mess. Repealing glass-steagall was step one..

There are actually people whom don't own cars.

Are any tires still made in this country?

I think Nexen is now partly Chinese owned.

Not sure how or if that affects anything.
