This sounds very cool! Once the ole e30 is back on the road, I'll probably hit you up!

I'm really into the list of features you've got going here. Not so much the fake carbon shite. Subscribing to read more.Comment

Yeah I'm subscribed too, really interested but don't want to be a guinea pig so waiting until you come up with the final product. Also, is it still possible to turn the engine off without getting out of the car? You know like say you're picking someone up but have to wait outside their house for 10 minutes, you don't want your engine running that whole time.Comment

This is the "updated" version of the same alarm that has been in my car (and hundreds of my customers) for years, guys.
The only "Guinea pig" part is whether or not I can write concise enough instructions that anyone can follow them properly enough to do a difficult job perfectly, the first time.

i had a system just like this in highschool, but it was crap and died, not to mention that i wired it myself so it was a rats nest (highschool kids suck at wiring)Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

See, and that is the challenge. For example: the tach wire. What you have to do is separate a harness from about 10 other harnesses and grab a single wire out of about 40 or 50 wires...and connect a wire to it!
It ain't easy, and I ain't small, but if I can do it so can you.Comment

How much is it to be a guinea pig? I'm too lazy to go back through the thread, lol. As long as there's decent enough instructions I might be willing to be a test dummy. :)

Imma bump this back up.
I think I am content with everything. I need a car to do an actual install in, like a bone stock E30 that has never had an alarm installed, nor any other random hackery done.
Ideally, this car would come with a guy who can take a picture of everything I do: every wire, every connection...good enough to make a flawless presentation.
Lemme put that out there: If anyone wants to come to my place and do this, I will help you do the actual install while I teach and photograph, or you do the photos and I do the install.
You buy the kit and I teach you more than you will ever want to know about installing!
In the meantime, any of you who really are serious, please PM me with "remote start" in the subject line of a PM.
Thanks!

Oh BTW: I would love to see some of you guys call local shops and ask how much labor they charge for a remote start install in a manual car.Comment

The other way to do this is to a plate with the shift pattern and use alarm contacts and rare earth magents. If the car is in any gear the system can show a ground and not start / if in neutral no ground and bam the car will start. I did this on maybe a dozen vw's back in the day. If build correctly it is the safest method this would be a cool project for someone.
