Its hard to belive you cover 220 feet every second.
I will be the first to agree with that.

At 140 in the M3, it was like normal highway speed. car was smooth and responsive, not unstable and twitchy. It could have done that all day.

I immagine people I did pass were like WTF?? because i was doing more then twice their speed.

Don't worry matt, the respect goes to those who build their cars with their own money and their own hands.

Anyone can have an engine built and installed by someone else. I'd be more concerned about an e30 with a whistling underhood and blow-off valve before i'm worried about a S50.

Hey, Stu, how bout that for smack talk ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) I wanted to get in on the fun!!!

Bah, a bill fitty ain't shit! (said the guy who's only done 142 with the stock motor...) Haven't had a chance to take the 3 litre to her peak yet, but she does get to 135 awfully fast  Now the 911 on the other hand....... 160 at the track, revlimiter in 5th!!! That shit is nuts.

Not to upset any "fruit carts" (which would apply to most of you)...

In an '88 MB 420SEL, we average 100mph from atlanta to lafayett...INCLUDING STOPS. One of which was for a ticket. that car would max out at 150, but we routinely cruised at 140-143 for an hour at a time.

God only knows what a 560SEL would've done.

Moral of the story: the e30's game is handling. don't even bother bringing up high speed cruising. I had a jeep cherokee 4.0 that could cruise at 110mph for hours and hours.

let's see how long this post lasts before it's deleted.

Well, it hasn't been deleted.... so i'll add my tale. I was going home from a party at 2am, i decided to head up to Whangarei... a town 200K's away... for no reason at all. Ave speed 138k's, total trip time 3 hours. The 318is was steady as a rock. I sat at 210k's on the speedo for a straight road 20k's long. SImply crazy. Especially at 3:30am.

I hit 112 in my M10 (on Highway 18 between east of Lincoln City if you're from Oregon you'll know the spot). Not exactly what one would deem 'stable'... probably due to my stock suspension. It felt like the car was floating. :D

Dude, that sounds just like the Cannonball Runs of the '70s. They averaged like, i forget, 88mph maybe, from New York to Los Angeles!!! Tickets, gas, and other stops.....no sleep, no food stops. Total travel time was like 32-38 hours......now that's crazy!
