need help, insurance is trying to write my vert off.

all right guys! i recently had my convertible top slashed on my pristine alpine white vert 5 speed. literally there was no scratches or wear on anything.

im trying to get my insurance company to get me a new one, but.... they say the vehicle is only worth 2500 in excellent condition, which is absolute bullshit.
i paid 5800 for her last year, this is really to bad....
    so......
i need your help, iv been trying to show them the value of the vert by digging up as many adds of clean verts over 5000$. so if you came across any, can you expand my search with me. also if there are any vert owners here, people that have some BMW credibility maybe you can write me a letter head saying what pristine verts are worth.

pm me if you can help.

i thought you only need to bring in 3 different ads to prove a point? having it appraised is a good idea.

but where do go to do that?

          Yup.

I wouldn't take 2500. You cannot even buy a clean coupe for that price in this market here in the Atlanta market.

Do you have a bill of sale from when you bought it? I'd show that to them, they can't reasonably argue your car lost over 60% of it's value in 1 year.

Don't take ANY of that insurance adjuster bullshit... request another adjuster. Say the first one touched you inappropriately.

i think id punch my insurance adjuster in the kidney if he could look me in the eye and seriously tell me a hole in my vert top is going to total the car.

they said they will have to have someone come take a look at the vehicle to appraise it... but once they look at and appraise the value, if they deem it total loss there is no going flack from there.

i mean how can he say the car is only worth 2500-3000 in EXCELLENT condition. this guy is being a little pencil pushing bitch right now. if i get no where with him i will get another adjustor or talk to the claims manager.

Then you have a salvage title. Fuck that.

A Salvaged title means dick. I mean, if you're going to sell it, you explain the circumstances. Some people will be turned off by it, but honestly it wont devestate a sale or the cost of the car in the event that you sell with a salvaged title.

And again, fight them on it. There's no reason a convertable top is worth more than the car, even if it is expensive. KBB on these cars is still in the $5,500 last I checked for "excellent" condition.
