I know its not an e30, but im thinking about picking up a '99 Subaru impreza 2.5rs. Does anybody know anything about Imprezas or just Subaru's in general? I have googled a lot of info and so far it sounds like a great car but I want some input from some people I am familiar with. thanks.

i've ridden in one on a canyon run out here, they're amazing cars but lots of people always complain that they're underpowered. from the passenger's standpoint, teh seats were comfortable and supportive, the body did well in the long sweepers but in the tight sections it was pretty average. overall i'd pimp one

I've owned my fair share of Subaru's. In fact I still have a legacy wagon in my driveway, my sister owns a 03 WRX. Subaru is by and far my 2nd favorite car. The Impreza handles well, has ok power, rocks the snow, and is absolutely bombproof. The Subaru engine will run forever, that's probably why they put them in small airplanes. If your looking for an all weather daily driver, that car would be hard to beat.

Where the hell did you get the cash for this? So I suppose if you wanted you could go buy a couple of e30s, ya know, just in case. ;)Grant Wescott

there's a dude with a late 90s 2.5rs that autocrosses in our car club, he does pretty well... faster than most of the WRXs (then again, so was my car, haha). they also sound mean as hell with an intake.. definetly not the fastest car ever made, but I wouldn't mind owning one.

I don't doubt their performance on the auto-x course. You see a lot of guys running that chassis with heavy modded turbo motors and crazy suspension/tire/brake setups. AFAIK, that chassis is also used quite a bit in road racing over in Japan. So it must be capable.
I'm just pointing out that they are gutless with the stock setup. I remember when the 2.5RS came out in the late 90's, they looked pretty badass....aggressive bumpers, high wing. After reading that article in SCC... and whaling 4-5 carlengths on one in a 318is with 4 heads in it...not quite impressive..
