I repeatedly get over 26 mpg with my m20, and my commute averages about 80mph (then I wail through the gears in-town, so that doesn't help!). I think it's a great balance between power and economy.

All I know is that my bud's m42 gets driven normally, not 55 on the highway, and it averages 31 mpg, drops to 26 around town. I'd like to see someone not drive like a 90 year old geriatric and still get those kind of averages in a m20.Back to my roots

I'd like to see your bud not drive anything like a geriatric and even try to keep up with me. That's the diff. To me, the mileage is not that big an issue. If it is, then get a diesel beetle and you'll have your 50mpg. I prefer my power to mpg.

I love the m20's power to mpg ratio.

What? I was of a clear mind when I said that.Originally posted by Ryan StewartPut down the pipe and step away slowly.Originally posted by rwh11385Stewart, the eta has torque, which means it has balls....
I drove my uncle's eta around and it wasnt hard to get going. Didn't get anywhere quick.......but it was easier than running a 4banger up to speed. And 4cyl's feel like an empty experience.....you run it all the way up to their 8k redline and get nothing in return except for buzzing and slowness. [not talking about the VETECKS...]Comment

you seem to be close minded

well I'm going to go look at a red/black 318is tommorrow...it looks in pretty good shape although the red seems a bit too bright to me (I prefer black) I'm not gonna mod the hell out of the car I'm buyin...I'm 18...working part time and going to school the rest of the time...I can't afford anything big. My mom's already pissed I'm into BMW...she thinks they're too expensive, and they are...but they're also fun as hell to drive. btw, thanks a lot for the input guys.E30 325i 1990 (Winter beater)

Well I've owned a 87 320i (2 liters 6cyl 128 hp) and I couldn't rev it too high because of a breaking fan problem (found out later it was a broken motor support...duh) and I think it went pretty fast compared to other younger cars. I kept up with my friend's 145 hp Integra and yes he knows how to drive it well. Anyway, I love E30s and that's what I'm gonna get :PE30 325i 1990 (Winter beater)
