    Mine gets 25 city and 30.9 in the mountains. On the interstate it gets 27.3 @ 75 MPH.

      Actually is a company car I am looking to get. They did mention the afore mentioned by me in the previous post. I however have such a soft spot for E30's. Currently own a 325i vert with 72000 original miles. Wifes car, all original excellent shape. Would never sell. So I am looking to trade my company vehicle ('07 FJ Cruiser) for another more economical one, since we're just buying a house upstate and my commute will now be 63 miles each way, as oposed to 3 miles. My first and only choice was the e30 318 since I've owned one before and I know the car is reliable. I just have to sell the idea to the boss. I guess it'd be easy since they won't have to spend much money. The'd be saving a wagon of cash rather...

        that would be one cool company if they get you an e30 as a company car. hardest part there might be proving reliability.

            On the highway cruising at higher speeds it'd make sense, city though...I don't really think the engine has enough torque. :-?

              a 2.93 makes a world of difference. Basically you go from 70 mph @ 3200 some r3v with a 4.10 down to 70 at like 2200-2500 r3v

                    I get 20-22 mpg city well into mid thirties freeway though ... I'm running a stock set up except the Turner Motorsports chip using 91 octane.

                        I *can* get 30 mpg.
                        I have gotten ~15 mpg, with a full car, at speeds over 85 mph for long periods of time.

                          I used to get 29mpg like clockwork, 70%hwy 30%city with a 3.73 lsd and 205/55/14.

                            Mine got a consistent 26 city and 35-37 highway. Increasing speed kills economy real quick on the highway though

                                Ok, so bottom line is I could get over 30mpg in stock form. I did think of a Jim C chip though.
                                Anyhow, I will probably get a car allowance from the company, and I'll buy whatever I want. So I shall go the E30 route.
                                I think that my question has been answered. Most of the travelling will be solo, and 99% of the commute is highway.
