I thought this was F1. The best of the best of the BEST! Why can't they put a cap on HP and MPG? Tell them if they want to build a 4cyl. then do it. If you want a 12cyl. go ahead. It still has to last this many races, can only have so much hp, and still has to get let say 20mpg.

I think the engineers can make those things happen. Can anyone see why that can't happen?

Idk what it is now, or what it ever was. I'm just saying. They are trying to be fuel conscience with a 1.6L 4cyl. turbo. Put a cap on things and let them go crazy. Not everybody is use to making a 4cyl. engine. I know they use to have it were everyone ran what ever they wanted.

Hell BMW had a 1.5l turbo making @1200-1500hp.

I would rather they had a set engine size, and then let them go hog wild, that makes way more sense than a HP cap in terms of development. I have heard the turbo's are going to put out the same power but be smaller and more fuel efficient, so I don't see why you guys are worrying except for the fact that the noise is going to change.

For the turbos they are targeting 550hp and a 5sec lap reduction in times. HORSESHIT, is what i think. Just glad Austin's first gp will still be in the v8 era. Give each team a ceiling for spending a max for displacement, bring back refueling and let them design and spend the $$$ however they see fit. It would be great to see 2.5l v10 on 3 stops going against 4cyl turbos on 2 stops. And the whole argument about how there is to big of a difference in speed would be bullshit. Get rid of the silly adjustable wings, and kers and it would be no problem. Just look at the cars/diffrences at sebering, and that was like 40 cars on a 2.5 mile circut.

I agree with the troll on the fact f1 should be v8's and the sound is part of what makes f1 so unique.... The FIA is really @!#$%ing up f1 with cost reductions and the possibility of a world engine... The whole point of F1 is cutting edge tech and by reducing spending and having a common engine it really takes the works teams motivation out of the sport. Its like racing socialism.

All that being said I am so pumped for AUSTRALIA

They are in a joint venture and have been since 99. They are both being run by Carlos Ghosn. Practice just ended, Ferrari and Redbull are the teams to beat.
