I agree with the above. I have had my craftsman set for over a year but am always adding to it and know I'll keep them for a long time coming.

New tools - Christmas present to myself (obviously not the craftsman set)

So powertool wise, what would be a good start? I'm comparing but get the same results.

Got a set of these with an on-line special for $39. They work well for the little bit I have used them so far.

Got a Snap On F80 for Christmas and finally got to use it a bit last night. Wow I love this thing far more than the Craftsman I used to use.

The new snapon ratchets are awesome. At first I protested them and wouldn't buy one because they lack the "made in USA" stamping and there we're rumors of chinese manufacturing.. but I'm pretty sure they can't write usa simply because some internals are from Italy.

I had an AutoZone cordless impact gun. It worked perfectly, the only reason I don't have it anymore is because I needed some extra cash. For $99 it's a perfect junkyard gun too

Hazet torque wrenches. Small one is 10-60 NM, and the large one is 60-320 NM. They are serial numbered and come from the factory with a certificate of calibration. Each one is tested at high, mid, and low torque settings in triplicate. Accuracy was anywhere from 0.2-2% error. Great %RSDs. Made in Germany.

Next is a Oetiker Clamp Kit. These are the same as factory. There are a few instances where they are superior to screw clamps and they have that clean look to them. Crimpers are by Knipex and are made in Germany as well. I have quite a few different Knipex tools and they are top-notch.

I've done enough wrench turning in Europe to know that Hazet (and Facom) are excellent tools. Did you get them from or in Europe or is there a N. Am vendor ?

Yeah Hazet tools are excellent, they're as good if not better than Snap-On. I have bought several used pieces off of eBay (13mm right angle box wrench might be my fav) but these were my first serious new purchases. There is samstag sales but they're more expensive than Jens, the guy I know in Germany. Jens gave me a little deal for buying both at the same time but they were about $400 less than what Samstag is selling those same two for.

Picked up a frequency counter for a project I'm working on. Slowly building up my test gear collection at home.

                            Good timing all things considered.

Got this Snap-On box last Friday for $150.

It has some surface rust on the front and in a few spots on the sides, so I plan on sanding it down and re-painting it. Putting my Clarke box on top of it to replace the smaller Waterloo bottom box I currently have.

My favorite store, Hartville Hardware, now carries my favorite hand tools. I bought one of every Wright Tools screwdriver. They're made from the same steel stock as Mayhew chisels. They had a nice little demo where you could ruin brand new wrenches from SnapOn and other competitors.
