I did IE long tube headers on my autocross car a few years ago, along with a Tri-Flo cat back. For me anyway, there was a noticible difference mainly above 5k. The biggest thing was the engine no longer went "flat" after 6k

This is a stock engine except for Miller MAF.

Also, turbos and nitrous are only for fucking ricers who think they are fast. They do nothing but bling the engine bay. Its all butt dyno. Never proven on a real dyno.

I agree with a modified engine making considerable gains with intake and headers... and for kerswaw turbos and nos... but not on stock m20 sorry nothing you can say matters you know it i am 100% correct.

there is plenty of dyno evidence to the contrary.

and no, ebay headers don't count.

                nando, you are wrong.

                admit it.

all these tuning companies.. hartge, alpina, racing dynamics, etc, they dont know what they are doing. and neither do you.

                ;)

Yeah, stock cast log manifolds are awesome! No room for improvement there. :)

yea they know how to make money... and find people who confuse noise for performance. Then go on a forum and act like an intake is gonna make a big difference on a stock motor. hahaha that is funny maybe in a real performance car not in a stock e30. Those tuning companies you mentioned make good products but their intakes will not make a BIG gain on a stock motor. Forget a dyno go to a drag strip I guarantee on a stock m20 motor you will see no difference in et trap speed etc. but if you guys like spending 100-300 on a noise machine by all means go ahead... I have spent it before on many different makes of vehicles na and fi only to be very disappointed. And I am not trying to be a smart ass just defending my statement. Come to cecil on a friday night I'll bring my stock box and we will switch it out for your choice of intake then see the results. I will put money there is no difference.

For me the airbox is an obvious restriction.

Merely saying stock is best doesnt tell the story. You need to measure the pressure drop to know if it will make a difference for you.
What did you replace your airbox with?

K&N cone. even unshielded, it makes a difference, but it loses torque in the low end because of that. with a shield it should make more torque & power everywhere. I'm just lazy. :p
