My e30 brings me joy, so I enjoy buying parts for it. Plus I figure it's paid for, so what I'm saving in car payments can sporadically go into it.
At this point in time I'd rather have an old car that I've sunk money into and thoroughly enjoy, than a new car I'm paying payments on and hate.
Either way though, if your daily breaks down...you fix it. Costs money to have a car, new or old. While a new vehicle may be less problematic it'll still need maintenance at some point.sigpic

It's an E30, or old bmw, project or not I think it's best to only pay cash for all/anything you do to it (since you mentioned "pay it off" ?).
Maybe slow down, and do the things that need attention first...then drive the car AS IS and save up for upgrades etc if you want.
Things like "Dual core radiator" and "roll cage" aren't exactly needed in most cases as well...Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

not really - I wait until I can afford to do what I really want. For example I've wanted new seats forever but I keep spending it on other things first. but as I've had the car almost 10 years (!!!) I'm slowly getting there but not upside down at all.
besides, we all have friends who bitch about a 25k car payment on a fucking Toyota Corolla and then think you must blow a lot of money to be driving a nice BMW. hahaha. suckers..
and mostly I can stop modding at any time and just drive it as is. At least that's what I tell myself...

Dude just spend money when it happens to be free. If it's excess, then you can either save for something huge, or spend it on small detail-oriented things.
You spend a lot? I spent $4000 last week on e30 shit. Money comes and goes. Make it last. It's worth something now, but it might be in the future.world renown Harry Potter expert

I got smokin deals on all three, but that's besides the point. The point is, money comes and goes. Be smart about spending or don't spend it at all.world renown Harry Potter expert

The thing that bums me the most about mine is that I've spent a ton of money on replacement shit. I've been through the engine, trans, and now doing suspension, I have basically no aftermarket parts on my car and I get burnt out when doing maintenance all the time. Although I know now that I don't have to worry about it breaking down on me because basically all wear items have been replaced, which is great in my eyes. It just gets boring some times.

Right now, I'm sort of in that boat. I just paid off 1 of my CC and then I just bought a suspension setup for the car. I looked into my bank account today andBecause of school loans, and wanting to finish some other things, I think I may have to put my RS's or Alpina up to sell along with a few other things :???:
