    $5K budget E34 or E39? Help me R3V

I have to pick up a 2nd daily. I have 5k and my choices are e34 540i/530i or 525i depending on the condition. For 5k I can get a pretty decent E34. I have a 237 Granite Silver 525i lined up with a little change left over for some rims.

    oooooorrrrrrrr....

I can dive into a e39 528i with a little too many miles for 4-5k or sit around and save a G and try to get into a 540i. Not sure that I want to dump money into this car so the 528i seems like the better of those two.

I need to make a good decision. Im worried about the age of e34 but the e39 has me worried about buying a lemon someone is trying to unload on the cheap.

I'd take the E39. Try to get one with a manual trans though. Either a 528 or 540. I have a 98 528i sport with manual trans and love it. It's a great cruiser. M52 is rock solid and maintenance isn't bad at all. Just have to deal with cheap window regulators but other than that the car has been pretty solid. The E39 seats are also really nice and comfortable.

          E34...
plenty reliable and way better on looks.

E39's are boring looking (except for the M5)

Keep in mind the aftermarket is way better for E39's than E34. You can get M5 rep bumpers for less than $500 now. There's a reason you don't see many nice E34's anymore.

Be carefull with E39 auto gearboxes.
Label says "Lifelong fill" or something like that and if PO didn't change the oil, it'll fail sooner or later.

e34 all the way. Plus it's granite silver, your favorite color.

                            E34 unless the E39 is a 540i/6 or M5.

Matching color cars makes me happy. Check this out.

                              93 160k. $3k leaves a good 2g's for maintenance and rims.

Parked next to this lil bitch
