Atlanta rarely gets over 100 and we are also at 1000 ft altitude (approx) so the humidity is not uber-retarded. It is warm, tho.

I've actually been there quite a few times. The humidity relative to what I'm used to kills me!Comment

Dude. The Humidity is retarded enough. It's no florida, but retarded. That being said. I drive the fuck out of my car (when I do actually drive it) in the summertime as well as winter. With the AC blasting, my temp stays below half and rarely goes halfway between a quarter and a half. Point being, with the proper stock components, the car stays cool. Even on the hottest days.
Halston, I understand your attitude on upgrading, what I am saying is if the 88 radiator in your swapped car never fails, there is no reason to upgrade... Which is the point I have been trying to make in this thread. Shiny and new don't appeal to me when it comes down to fine performance. If the 88 keeps your swap cool and doesn't leak, why spend the money if only for looks? As far as the holier than thou factor, come on, you know I am the holiest of holies! ;)Yours truly,
Rich

It should kill you. Unless you are from Florida or the gulf coast of bama, The humidity here and in Houston should be enough to drive anyone nuts. I hate the comparison of Atlanta to Seattle as well. Sure the average rainfall is the same, but there is a huge difference in the conditions outside in the summer. I have lived in both places, let me tell you, Seattle is a joke compared to summers here. The only place I thought was worse than Atlanta was Sacramento. But the summer we were there, it was @ 113 three months straight. That was unbearable in my car, but the engine temp never climbed over a half. That's stuck in traffic on I80 with the radiator I have in the car now.Yours truly,
Rich

I am an "E36 guy" and worked in shops. I have replaced enough radiators that I just don't want to deal with it in my car so I replace with all aluminum :)Dude. The Humidity is retarded enough. my stock rad went out and i replaced it with a mishimoto. it was about $100 more, but it looks good and leaves me flexible for whatever future direction i go with the car. idk what these fitment/hose issues are about, because i never ran into any myself...
i was running hosewater while i diagnosed my cooling system, but just left it in due to laziness. from these pics, i'd better switch out to distilled soon.1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

+1 Pat is a big help for just about anything.
OP, I think you should try to contact the company before you post a thread like this trying to trash them. They have a lifetime warranty, I'm not even sure what there is to complain about - you'll get a replacement. How many other companies do that? Sorry about your bad luck though, dude.Comment

FYI for those that are running just water, without running coolant or a rust inhibitor/anti corrosive additive you will be building up a rust barrier that can reduce the coolant to block and radiator heat transfer abilities and also can damage from electrolysis from dissimilar metals plus premature water pump failure as your water pump uses coolant to lubricate the carbon seal.
And an example of the uglies of running straight water

I got my Mishi from Mitch. When I installed it, drove few miles, parked and noticed coolant on the floor. With a flashlight I found the coolant was comming from the fine tubes. Sure it was cracked from factory or somehow it got cracked, not at simple look but very small ones. Contacted Mitch, suggested me to talk with Pat, sent him few photos and the warranty clain filled. They sent me a new one w/o major questions.
I'm still using the original cracked radiator as at the time (since I don't live in USA) I was DD my car and need it, so I opted to go through stop leak powder stuff and worked perfect. I even tracked my car like that and so far it's sealed. But yeah, I felt bad when my brand new rad was cracked. Now I have this spare rad, ready to go if needed. My temp dropped a bit though.Euro M3'87 NogaroSilver/Euro E34 M5 '93/Porsche 993 TT 97' Euro/Porsche 993 Carrera 95' Euro/Skyline R33 GT-R

I use either pre-mixed coolant or concentrate + RO water. If you just drain the rad you get very little.
No, but see the above comment. I would flush with RO water (as I have an RO system and have 20 gallons on hand on a bad day), and then re-fill to taste.
