I hate STIs beccause every flatbilled/stretched earlobe/Nike Dunks wearing douchebag around here has one. There are countless amounts of them, and I'm not just saying that. They are EVERYWHERE. Their parents all bought them, and as soon as they got them home, they slapped mudflaps and a Monster Energy sticker on them. They all fit the same giant fart-can that makes it sound like a Peter Griffin fart, and they all think they're Ken Block.

I hate them for the same reason I hate Priuses. I don't hate the car, I hate the douchebags driving them.

I personally like them and my EX Girlfriends family is a Subie loving family. She has a 2010 5 door Impreza She bought her Father's(new off lot) 98 Impreza sport before that. and her brother owns a brand new WRX sedan(He owned a 04 and 06 before that). They are amazing in the snow and EASY to fix and cheap to buy parts for. Only hate is the morons that wear Block clothes and think they can drift everything in sight. The WORST is they come to SCCA and talk shit on other peoples cars. Too bad they cannot drive the cars Mommy and Daddy bought them xD Nothing like owning newer WRX/STi with a coiled ETA e30 lol

my favorite thing about owning a subaru is going to the local REI store and seeing 15 other subarus all driven by the local tree hugging "progressives" (which makes no sense considering their poor fuel mileage). :D

I'll agree with this sentiment. I like our subaru, but I have no illusions that it's exciting or beautiful to look at. I don't get the love for their motors though - I guess the STI is cool, and everyone likes turbos, but the rest of their motors are pretty much the same thing they were building 20 years ago. I mean it runs decently, and makes pretty good torque for a 4 cylinder, but that's about it. it's painful to rev them past 5k..

You have just stumbled upon the wrong scooby doo's. My former Sti would wail out to 8500+ and rev'd faster than the s54. Zero counterweight cranks ftw!

USA Spec subaru Sti gets shafted by the factory just like the USA e36m. Gets a crappy usa only Sti "s52" instead of the 2000cc high revving Sti like a euro s50b32

Sti 2.0 makes me smile on the track pulling over 1.3 bar at 8500rpm .:D


As for the crowd; that turned to poo when dc shoes sponsored 3 gumball STI's a few years back. Bro dawgs for sho. Got to be cool and have tats that look like cool people's tats, stickers are important too.

yeah but since 99.9% of subarus aren't 8500rpm, 1.3 bar screaming race cars, I don't think my experience is invalid. their more common motors are pretty blah.

My e30 support legacy wagon has no tacho. Therefore I don't know when it sounds bad!! Opposite extreme :D

The NA lumps are just commuter crap. Less efficiency than a civic, not as reliable powerplant - ESP the turbo lumps- always blowing ringlands, hg, rod bearings.

Sti USA spec gets one of these commuter engines, everywhere else in the world gets a real 2000cc Sti with high cam engine
