to play devils advocate here, the only thing Josh is guilty of is not informing the community in the timely fashion....if at all, if it wasn't for this thread being bumped.
the money went somewhere. That's something neither of us will truly be privy to knowing.
point is, the community raised a little over $1800 for Yan in efforts to repair is M3.
Trusted mod. of R3V arranged, hosted and collected donations from members.
thread fizzles out and dies.
Paypal account is "forgot' and nary a check is made on it throughout that time until realized the funds are gone.
Spent time with Paypal on phone upwards to THIRTY MINUTES...TWICE...trying to find a solution.
loses interest.
doesn't tell members of community who donated until whistle is blown.

....I guess I started writing this thread with the concept of actually trying to play devils advocate, but after actually spelling it out it's pretty ugly and I will not go on.Originally posted by flyboyxi have watched my dog lick himself off a few times

However, anyone who runs a business or understands business would have insulated themselves from personal liability. When you start an LLC, or Corporation you are not liable for debts of the business, unless you mix up personal and business expenses. That is exactly what has happened here. There were mixed personal accounts with a 'business' account, and that never should have been done. Anyone with any business experience, or with a few hours of searching and reading on the web could have figured this out.
He should be held liable for the donations. It doesn't matter if he was hacked or not, whether the money was lost with neglect, malice, or theft. He is the one who set up donations where he had unlimited liability; on purpose, accident, or by negligence.
Ignorance, is not an excuse. It sucks it happened, and the effects could have been mitigated if he was open and honest about it the moment it happened. They still have the possibility of being mitigated by the release of all the information possible.
Regardless, you don't get off the hook for liability just because you 'didn't know'. This isn't Enron.
EDIT: I'm not saying we are responsible for holding him accountable monetarily, social pressure is the only tool at our disposal. I would love to see more details posted so we can figure out exactly what happened.

As someone that uses Paypal everyday I feel it is in Josh's best interest to get the old account back up and track the info and find where the money went. I can track my paypal into right back to the very day I made it.
I have known Josh for a good bit and I find him a pleasure to talk to, for now I will just pray he can figure out what happened and where it went. I'm not here to cast stones, GGraves has been in a situation that raised brows here and he resolved it and got his good name back and giving back to the community with AMAZING e30 goodies.~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~

This looks to be important info. Josh claims he closed the account back when the funds went missing. How is it the same e-mail (eurospeed88@gmail.com) address was used 10 months ago?

I suspect the person that bumped this 3 year old thread was also aware of what happened. Regardless, I am sure Josh told someone else and Yan must have commented on the funds. Why would Yan censor what happen if someone asked him? This is why I said it was kept a secret.
It's not worth discussing or debating at this point since its all speculation and rather disgraceful but again one or the other should have said something since it wasn't truly their money to begin with. It just seems the right thing to do with the donors.

Wow, that thread really blew up. I was around for Yan's fiasco with his car, but I somehow missed this thread, so let me check to make sure I understand what I just read:
1) R3v decided to not be cheap
2) People who donated didn't care for 3 years
3) People who didn't care are now flaming Josh
4) Yan hasn't said shit in this thread
5) No we all have to leave the e30 game because of theives
Yeah, it's a shitty situation, and it sounds like Josh feels bad about it and is looking to fix things. How about people calm down for a second and go back to asking for e30tech login help and wanting to know the best engine swap for $5 that can be done overnight to get 400whp.
Good fucking god, if you're going to bitch at him, post a fucking screenshot of your donation. If you didn't donate, move it along and let it get sorted out.sigpic

Well, first off sorry to Yan for getting screwed twice. Glad he's not the vindictive type because he would have every reason to strike out at someone. Kudos to him for being the kind of man he is. Secondly, this situation is all kinds of screwy and I have a suspicion it might get worse before it gets better. I hope the mods can stay vigilant in making sure things are handled and a satisfactory outcome is achieved for all parties involved. I don't know Josh and have never dealt with him but hope this is resolved properly. Third, fuck vlad because he was the proverbial domino in this whole chain reaction culminating in Yan getting screwed twice.Originally posted by csermonet47Vlad, you are handling this quite unprofessionally.
Also, you are a cock with tacky taste.
That is all.
