So I would correct that and say German cars preformance and longevity.

Every car company will have its flaws and its perks. I used to be pretty close minded when it came to cars, but after owning 3 American (Lincoln Navigator, Pontiac Bonneville SSEI, Foxbody Mustang), 3 German (Porsche 924, My current E30, and my e34 touring), and 2 Japanese cars (240SX, Maxima), I just love cars in general.
Tell your friend it isn't good to be so close minded. Each car company learns from each other and it's the best thing that could happen to the automotive industry. It's not "stealing" or "ripping off". The people that build these cars have far more capability than your friend. They engineered a machine, regardless of make, that is outstanding in their own respects.1989 325i - 2.7i, Holset H1C, 60lb injectors, whodwho MS-PNP.

I'm a big fan of (old) Japanese cars. (check my sig)
Datsun based it's straight 6(early Z, 510(4/6 of a z motor)) on the Mercedes Benz straight 6 from the late 50's early 60's. The euro auto industry was around way before the Japanese auto industry, naturally, our Asian friends tore apart many Euro rides before they built anything for themselves.lgb240
