Also, I have had a couple people who were going to ride in my car walk up to the back window and look for a door handle because the rear windows are so large thinking it was a sedan.

Sedan vs. Coupé

I prefer the look of a coupe, plus it a couple pounds lighter than a sedan. The coupe can get annoying when you haul friends around a lot though. I plan on getting a 4 door some day, and its going to be a 5er.ส็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็Originally posted by blunttechI need you to exfoliate my ballsack

This is a funny thread. E30 2-doors are harder to distinguish from 4-doors compared to any other car I know. For myself, I will only own a sedan. Not just for convenience, but because the coupe rear windows don't roll down. I like the rear windows down on nice days when I don't want my "do" messed up.sigpic

Wagons have no lockable trunk. Otherwise neat, for a family. 2 door coupe is nice, but pop outs do not roll down. Borrow a vert, it will win you over. 4 windows that roll down, 2 doors, ladies love them! The ultimate tanning machine.

For me it depends on the individual car, but even not-well done coupes look decent where as not-well done sedans don't.

I like E30's because I want a car that handles well. Not some rice bucket to cruise the strip in.M20B23 Euro 323i - The Legend Of Ron Burgundrot

Ideally I want to own both, dd the sedan, my coupe more performance oriented. Have race seats in the coupe and remove rear seat. Drive it around when I don't want to drive others. Classy modded sedan for nice commute to school and to hold people. Best of both worlds

okOriginally posted by OniKyan View PostAs do I. Tourings are probably my favourite but super expensive. I've also had a four door.
Go for a 4Wd touring turbo diesel maybe, if this was sold anywhere.? Hopefully for you, in Australia. Bad ass. One could even bolt/welt a storage locking box in the rear, for security reasons. If, theft is an issue in the "hill country". Or, build one of those killer e30 trucks out of a 4 door, and a storage locking box on/in the bed, start with a ix 4 door turbo diesel. Instant jelly. I hope this combination was produced for use s o m e w h e r e !.
Ask around constantly, you may be closer than you think to obtaining one of these unusual vehicles, for low money.TRUTH
They're alright compared to many other cars but they're not as good as a tin top. The E30 chassis is already pretty floppy/flexible, chopping the roof off did nothing to help this.Right, makes sense, a lot of much older "tin top" cars handle MUCH better. I'm sure you could put a cage in there if you were serious about it but then it's not a street car. As I am sure you've seen, BMW added stressed structures, welded to the "chassis", running alongside the interior longitudinal (sub-door threshold structure?). -Maybe the reason vert seats are narrow and special? (my cardinal leather<8)
The entire vert package is a bit complex. Have you ever looked at what a small space contains the folded top? Wow. Just wow. By the way, in my opinion, the best manual folding convertible top design...EVAR!. A considerable amount of extra thought went into designing the verts, a bit more than, "only chopping the roof off".
Check it- the pillar-less hardtop look for you!? Think roof rack on a vert hard top. NO "B" pillar! Oh, I've recently learned that a factory e30 hardtop allows verts onto some tracks! (in the states?) You probably have miles of "track" in the "hill country".
Sold my hardtop. derp

Makes you have the illusion of race car.
If did again, would use 2 door for that reason.
And ease of exit and entry.
Otherwise, 4 door = more switches and window motors to fail!
a coupe, plus it a couple pounds lighter than a sedan.
and they were within 20 lbs.
tnow, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves
