Thanks for all the kind words fellas. I'm excited to get started with some maintenance on it, already started a list of must replace things to order from Blunt. Read through Simon's Zen thread a couple times to get an idea of what to order to start with.

Right now I'm due to leave before it will be 25 years old but I'm trying to stay here another 3 years. My wife loves it here and my Battalion is offering to send me to a school I want if I give them some more time. I will be heartbroken if I can't keep this car.

I don't mind the manual windows; it has central locking and power mirrors that all work, which were more important to me.

On a side note, does anyone know if the Euro spec cars didn't come with fuel filters? This is my second Euro one and neither one of them have a fuel filter beside the gas tank.

Don't europeans like to put US trim on their cars?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I've often wondered this, but think to myself "No, they like to put hartge, alpina, ACS, MK motorsport, and others, trim on their cars. It's more readily available there."

I haven't heard of them wanting US stuff for their cars, but don't try to go to the PX on the weekends, full of Germans. They love our cologne, purses, shoes and that kind of stuff.

You would think the performance stuff would be readily available here but it is not, I was lucky to get this car. The M42 is pretty rare here. When I get parts from the dealership, its shocking. Take the prices from real OEM and just put a EURO sign with it instead of $ and that's the price. It's ridiculous German parts are more expensive here than in the States. That's Socialism for you!

Nice find. The car looks great.

I'm curious about the dial on the left side of the knee panel just below the headlight switch. Is that for auto headlights or...?

That's the dipped beam knob. It adjusts the headlights so that when you have a load in the trunk or are towing a trailer, your headlights aim can be lowered so they aren't directed into oncoming traffic eyes.

You guys in the US got a raw deal with E30's, I am from the UK and nobody wants "IS chequered" Sports cloth (well hardly anyway)! I struggled to give a clean set away for £125GBP!

I currently have a set in my project car, only a temporary thing until I can get my Recaro trim sorted.

At the OP, looks nice, are they UK spec seats? I wasn't sure they did the sport type in Germany on the 318is I thought the rest of Europe got "comfort" trim in chequered pattern?

                      Anyways looks a nice car!

I've managed to break quite a few window cranks.

Less weight without the electric motors.

I don't know if they are UK spec seats. I have seen them in quite a few e30s around here. If they are original they have survived very well, since almost all these cars I've found have the fabric worn through.
