I'll throw this out there...if you like the mild textured look and want insane durability get Por-15 like Matt said. Spray it with low psi and you get something that looks like the finish in the OP's pic. Easier to clean, still top coatable, and virtually indestructible.

The one thing I like about bedliner is that anyone like myself who is half-retarded when it comes to paint+body work can make it look decent:

I think bed liner would actually compliment the pc on the valve cover and intake mani pretty well.

What you did looks fantastic, I'll have to do that at some point. Even though my engine bay doesn't need to look good, it still looks much better than what I did, and would be more durable.

Yeah it would be a pain though. I would just live with it.

Paint over it. If I don't like shit I painted, it get's more paint on top. Fuck it. I'm not a paint guy. I shouldn't even be painting shit. I leave that to the pros at Young's.

Yes, it takes the unintended hit from an uncontrolled wrench much better than the original paint does. I haven't had any chips/scratches yet and I am sure any touch-up required will blend decently. The one downside is that the texture means you cannot just wipe off the bay with a cloth to clean it up. You really need a damp rag or some water flow to wash away any dust as Ryann mentioned previously.

I wouldn't do it on a show-quality car where everything is expected to look immaculate and clean all the time but for those who want to spruce up a functional daily driven car by making the engine bay look a little more uniform and even a bit more rugged for those stray wrenches, then it is perfect.

Bedliner would look like fucking dog shit on a alpine. Just do a single stage alpine and be done.
