I don't get it. So someone called a tow company, opened your garage and had your car towed out of it? Why didn't they pick it up from the towing company? How did they pay the towing company (up front usually)? Did they use an auto club card? If so what card? You got it back right? How did it go from impound BACK to the towing company???? What police force releases a stolen car to anyone that isn't the rightful owner?????
Something sounds fishy here. I'd like to say I'm not calling you out, but I kinda am. How is this car not back in your posession? And If it isn't, how does the towing co have it back when they were the ones who "stole" it.
I mean, they took a car form it's place of rest w/o asking any pertinant questions to prove ownership to said vehicle?Yours truly,
Rich

I came home today and the car was transferred from the county to Redman's towing company. They apologized for not getting proper information about the person who called it in. However, I have used their service three times and they have asked me for my full name, address, phone number, and license #. They are an excellent towing company but something about this just doesn't add up.
Back in the day they towed my Integra from in front of my townhouse (legally parked there, with permit). When I got there at 10pm to get it:
1. They claimed it was parked along a fire zone (uh, it was in a nose-in spot in front of my house)
2. They would not release it that night, said no pick-ups after 9pm. I'd have to come back the next day and pay the "overnight storage fee."
3. When I finally went to get it out of the yard, the doors were all open, muddy bootprints on the seats, and everything of value gone (CD case, speakers, deck, sunglasses, a jacket, and other random stuff).
4. Confronting them, they said "oh, we had a break-in at the yard last night." Keep in mind that this yard has barbed-wire fences, dudes on-premesis 24-7, and three mean-looking Dobermans wandering around. Yeah, a break-in.....right.
In the end, I called a police friend of mine who made sure Henry's "reimbursed" me and then some, after they previously had claimed "no responsibility" for any of it.
Redman I haven't heard anything that bad, but I've heard some stories about them damaging cars when towing, taking the WRONG car other than the one called about, and a couple other things.

After reading the last 6 pages (well the highlights)...
Sorry your car got nicked but good thing it is back. i find it weird it was released to the place in which it was recovered stolen...
i agree with you that it doesn't add up that they didn't get full records. sounds to me like someone had your info, was an employee or knew an employee of the towing company. hopefully it is well when you pick it up.
Also, when the manager comes out to apologize, punch him in his fucking e30 stealing accomplice face!
