you can reuse the plastic part, it just snaps together. the pins you can buy new, they come with a length of wire so you can splice them in.Comment

it's not mechanical. the signal goes straight to the speedometer. the speedometer translates that signal into a stepper motor movement (speedo needle) and a basic signal for the SI board, OBC, DME, cruise control, etc.Comment

Thanks nando. If I have to resolver do I need to pull the speedo out of the cluster housing?Comment
-
I guess it depends if and what's broken. it just unplugs - not too tough to get apart. :)Comment

The speed is easy to take apart. Just open the cluster, remove the green connector from the rear. Pull the 4 screws out and pull the speedo outward. It pulls right out of the housing.
The solder contact points are all pretty large so its not too bad re-flowing everything.Owner - Bavarian Restoration

Thanks fellas I've swapped speedos before, just wasn't sure what I was re flowing. This car only has like 77xxx miles on it do keeping the odo working is a top priority.Comment

My cluster is doing the same thing, except the speedo, tach, temp, and econo are all spazing. It makes a click noise over and over, but odo still works.
