That is not true. Any police officer can sign it off for him.op what you have to do is go to a referee. There are smog refs all around. basically what they do is inspect the vehicle to make sure it has not been tampered with or modded in any way. Then they issue you a certificate that gives the results.
Take that certificate to the court and the ticket will be waved.RIP: Delphin '89 E30 with S50 swap and lots of goodies :'(

So I went to CHP and the officer came out listened to my car and signed off on it! Turns out you only have to go see the ref if they specify it on the back of the ticket. Thanks for everyones insight.sigpic2000 323ci

"Courtesy" is a very loosey used term in this sense...
That sucks that happened to you; I was about to get rolled either for my loud gutted stock exhaust or my lack of a front plate earlier today. I quickly pulled into a minimart parking center (cause the Fuzz was coming from the opposite direction and I saw the ratard staring a pointing at me), ducked in between a wall and a truck, and shut my car off ASAP. They rolled right in the lot and right by me without a fuss.

Depending on what box they checked is what your fine will cost you; Correctable is a $10 fine after its fixed. N/C is $25+ depending on how the court wants to extort you that day. California? HAH! Give to Caesar what is Caesar's I suppose...Comment

I got a fix it ticket because one of the screws to my front plate fell off and my plate was hanging vertically from one screw.
POW! $10 out my wallet and 1hr 30mins wasted waiting behind idiots who drive with busted bulbs.Comment

This crap annoys the zjeg outta me..
The people driving with busted bulbs are a legitimate threat to other drivers.. Yet, you have to roll me to give me a ticket for no plate/moderately "tuned" sounding exhaust? How am I even remotely a threat to other drivers?
WITC?

^ Busted bulbs dont annoy half as much as asshole drivers that drive with high beams on and tailgate.
As long as the car with busted bulbs have other lights like their indicators still working I can live it but shiit spend the 10 dollars and go to oreillys and get bulbs ffs.Comment
