I dont even have that shift knob anymore ive got the stock one. I got that from some bmw I took parts from.
Btw Im pretty sure that guy disapeared forever in shame.
What pisses me off is, if he spent even a minute looking up his question as opposed to writing here he would have known what his car takes immediately.
And then I even provided like 3 links, read any of them and hed know he was wrong but he still didnt read just blah blah blah.
This is the age of the internet and theres no excuse for being that ignorant.

Ive got another vert fender on it now though. It doesnt fit any different actually but because the last 2 inches line up better it looks better.
Im pretty sure I showed him redlines list already but the other list shows that an m42 uses 5-40 or 15-40.
Pretty much any resource including bmw will tell you that it takes a pretty deep head up your butt to contradict the world.Last edited by stamar; 08-29-2012, 01:18 PM.

20w50 is a pretty crappy weight for oil. maybe if you live where it's always 100f, but a 20w conventional is going to be like sludge here 9 months out of the year. Even M1 15w50 is pushing it during our mild winters but I can still get away with it, a 20w50 conventional, no way in hell..
I really want to try the 5w40 Mobil 1 turbodiesel truck oil in my M20. I put it in the subaru after trying everything else to quiet the thing down, and haven't heard a peep out of it since. Should be great all winter long and 5w40 should be fine during our mild summers. I think I can do a 7500 mile oil change no problem too, at least the subaru hasn't started getting noisy yet and it usually needs a change by 3k or it starts sounding like a diesel.
