I'm pretty much running the show on this side of 'the pond'. My plan is to pretty much split the total cost of importing the pallet (including any import/customs taxes). I'm planning on doing this based upon volume (since the weight is not an issue as far as I know).
I'm still talking with Jon about the specifics of the transportation of the items. Everything will be boxed up and then shink-wrapped to the pallet. My goal is to have it imported to the Port of Portland, although exactly where is something that I still need to find out. Once I get all of the specifics about the size of the pallet and the declared value of the items on it, I'll make some calls and find out what sort of duties we're looking at, and I'll also inquire whether or not there will be fees to the dockworkers union. I'm sure Jon can find out a lot of information from the company that is shipping the pallet. So pretty much every one will pay Jon for the items and the initial shipping costs (my preference is through PayPal). And then every one will pay their share of the customs taxes to who ever is going to receive/pick-up the pallet (hopefully more than one of us will be able to do that.)
As far as the time it'll take, Jon said that it could take up to thirty days to reach Portland from the UK. Which isn't unreasonable considering the ship will have to go through the Panama Canal. I'd like to get it shipped out in about two weeks, so that it'll arrive when all of us college kids are on spring break.
That's about all the information I have at this point.
