^ so does that give you credibility about the viability of Tesla, or EV vehicles in general?

f.ucking hell, this is a 100% American owned, designed, and manufactured vehicle. Tesla is questioning the status quo of car purchasing, service, ownership, not to mention attempting to build infrastructure to support the inevitable groundswell of EV's in the future.

some of you just stick your head so deep in the sand over Tesla.. you know that leaves your ass right up in the air for everyone to see?

I'm not in the market for a bigger 4-door sedan, I already have an E34. I was planning on buying a two-seater roadster/coupe in a year or two, and so far the Z4 is the only one that interests me in that segment. Now if after the Model X Tesla comes out with a second gen Roadster, built by them from the ground up, I might be very interested.
I can only support what Tesla has been doing.

In case you fail at life and don't read Jalopnik, a recent article:
Tesla announced today that it plans to upgrade its current superchargers to charge three hours of driving range in 20 minutes, as well as line the highways with powerdicks from coast to coast before the start of 2014.

                    Also this one:

Electric Car Startup Tesla Repays U.S. Loan
Luxury electric-car maker Tesla Motors Inc. TSLA +0.31% said on Wednesday it has fully repaid a $452 million federal loan it received in 2010, and said it would be able to finance development of its next two vehicles without selling new shares.
After repaying the U.S., Tesla has about $679 million in cash. That, plus anticipated cash flow, should be enough to complete development of its next model, a sport-utility vehicle called the Model X, and a third, lower-priced line that could be launched within three or four years, Mr. Musk said.

Completing the Model X, which is based on the Model S, should cost about $250 million. The third-generation car could cost another $1 billion, he said. But he said Tesla could finance the expansion of its model line without further stock sales. "I believe we have enough funding to get all the way to our third generation," Mr. Musk said
Mr. Musk said he plans new ways for Tesla owners to rapidly recharge their cars to allow for longer trips between charges. Tesla has indicated in filings with the Securities and Exchange Commissionthat it is working on a way to quickly swap out the batteries of a Model S and to improve its cars' recharging speed through a network of "supercharger" stations.

I'm ready to invest however I can. I'll even invest in the charging stations.

In 2007 I was at an environmental summit in Syracuse NY. Toyota was there with their hybrid line up. The Prius I test drove had a ridiculous amount of torque. After one aggressive pull at a stop light, it all hit me at that moment: I thought about how fast my slot cars were when I was a kid, how fast the battery R/C cars were compared to their gas counterpart - simultaneously I had an ah-hah and duh moment.

Two days ago I was behind a Model S for a while. I could tell he was getting a bit spirited with it because at certain points the space between us would grow exponentially. I didn't hear anything. I just watched this massive (relatively speaking) luxury car accelerate effortlessly away from me. It's a very confusing experience when it is that close to you and you don't hear the typical rev's of a motor. AND he doesn't pay for gas.

For many reason, I would never abandon the internal combustion engine. But one cannot deny the properly titled thread in which we write.

When car manufacturers started building cars out of metal, instead of wood, it took all of three months to make the transition. - Paraphrased from a presentation by Amory Lovins

I hope someday Tesla joins the ranks of other car makers and make a bonkers race car, or at least field a race team.

                          Until then,

It's already grown 6 fold since it's public offering. Analysts think it is slowing - which might mean now is a good time to buy. Before it picks up again.
