I have driven the future and it is Tesla

I was talking to a friend whose buddy got stock options from way back in the day... serious, serious bank. Pretty much anyone like him who suffered long hours and subpar pay at the start-up phase is rolling in it right now.
Solar City too would have been a good snag at the beginning of the year... up ~250%.
Irrelevant video from Laguna Seca...

Safest car in the world is the Tesla S. This now has the attention of the soccer moms.

To build something like that will cost as much or more than the Tesla S. I'll take the Tesla. Even to mod my MR2 to have the range and performance of the Nissan Leaf cost more than a Nissan Leaf.sigpicComment

Howabout nearly triple the torque and 50 mile range ..... in an E9 coupe?

well my thinking here is that they've already developed a package that plugs into the drivetrain the M4*/M5* engines use- hopefully the existing work they've done makes it cheaper than me bringing them a random make/model and saying "make this electric" and they start from scratch. for at least some of the process, they'll be saying "ok now we need another one of these..."
also, i like my car. don't really want a different one.
yeah i've seen that guy's project too. complete DIY, pretty inspirational.Howabout nearly triple the torque and 50 mile range ..... in an E9 coupe?

While likely not committed with the driving of a silver spike, Tesla has completed the first Supercharger line spanning from each coast. This achievement now makes it possible to drive a Tesla Model S from LA to NYC, recharging the vehicles exclusively through Superchargers. Best of all, at these stations, Tesla drivers can top off their tanks for free.Comment

Technically for a $2000 one time fee, but it's still a helluva deal.

I got into it a bit late. Bought at 149.5, sold at 155 right before it plummeted a couple weeks back.
I was enjoying the fall quite a bit, was planning on stocking up right before Q4 earnings report, and then BOOM Tesla PR guy decided to spill the beans on sales at the NAIAS. Thanks for the heads up, right?

Edmunds did it in under 3 days about 9 months ago, so within a couple years:
http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/f...road-trip.html
Last summer the car gurus at Edmunds.com took advantage of Tesla Motors’ ever-growing Supercharger network to drive coast-to-coast in a Model S in 67 hours and 21 minutes, record time for an electric vehicle. Carl Reese, of Santa Clarita, California, thought he and his friends could smash that record. This past weekend, they claim they did — by nine hours and 34 minutes.
59 hours, or under 2.5 days.
Comes 2.5 years after your post.
