my friends grandpa got the p85, and let him drive it. Another friend filmed the dash, and my goodness the acceleration is unbelievable. 0-30 in legit a second, it's crazy.

my brother got a Model S and he drives it everywhere over his other cars just because its cheapest per mile. The only issues are its range limitation, often times when we go somewhere far (In Texas you drive everywhere and you drive alot) then he has to plan accordingly. I get the feeling that the infrastructure will be here soon enough to support it. I hope fuel Cell infrastructure comes quickly in Germany so the rest of the world can follow in their foot steps too.

I went to the Tesla dealership in Montreal.
I bought a Tesla hat. The blue one.
I chatted up the salesman for awhile who was very friendly, even knowing my wife and I went only because we were curious about them.
I'm scheduled for a road test even when they come to Ottawa for a Test Drive event.

Tesla says you will get 5 miles of range for every hour of charging. From zero to 300 miles would take about 52 hours at that rate. With a single charger connected to a 240-volt outlet, which Tesla recommends, the pace speeds up to 31 miles of range for each hour of charging, and a full 300-mile charge takes less than 9.5 hours.
Electric cars are not where they need to be yet. You would need two $90,000 Tesla model S's to even compete with a normal gasoline sub-compact car. It's not efficient, practical, cheap, fun, or lightweight yet.
P.S. I will be content with my lighter, faster, better looking, more efficient, more fun, better sounding, BMW E30 325i. :)Last edited by goskidmark; 05-21-2015, 03:46 PM.

My E30 will go 135 Mph down hill. So... it's faster? Yup. It's faster.

$35,000 Tesla is debuting next year... don't know when it will be up for sale. But I am excited to see what they were able to do with a more "every man" type of sales price. I still love the Model S, but if they can produce a legit 3 series competitor... I might be game.

From your post... I get that you don't like electric vehicles. That's fine you have every right not to, but to compare an E30 to a Model S is like comparing the Wright Brother's plane to an F-22. The only way the E30 is winning any comparison point is through personal preference.Last edited by Schnitzer318is; 05-21-2015, 10:14 PM."A good memory for quotes combined with a poor memory for attribution can lead to a false sense of originality."

I have to get this off my chest....
I've never had the chance to drive a tesla and I'm very excited about what they are bringing to market. So much so that i would seriously consider getting one as a daily. That said, I have a hard time taking them serious as an actual performance machine as some have painted them.
The p85d, the fastest model available, traps what? 114-115 mph in a quarter? Not hugely impressive given the hype it's gotten for its performance. Seems to me it's mostly a 60' weapon similar to a Jeep Cherokee srt8. Awesome stop light performance but nothing ground breaking after that. And with its 5,000lb curb weight I have serious doubts it would tear up a real race track, or if it could even survive multiple laps.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a hell of a lot of fun in the real world with stop lights etc but i have to cringe when I see a p85d vs hellcat video or non car people freaking out over their first experience with an actual hard launch.Euro S50 Daily Driver: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=279195
