Like it or hate it - the Prius was a game changer when it came to gas/electric hybrids. It is still considered the hybrid of choice despite various newcomers.
The Tesla S is another game changer. As the tech improves and becomes more affordable this particular car will be surpassed. But as of now it is the benchmark.

Even if it's not scarce in the strict sense, it can have not enough supply to meet demand.
As technology improves, batteries in particular, there will be more electric cars, they will be more affordable, and you'll see more of them on the road.
It may happen sooner than you think.Zinno '89 <24v swap in progress>

put the peak oil theory down. Its bunk, as it discounts the better tech and improved drilling and recovery methods that have been are being developed along with economics to allow for the development of those things. We have vast untapped reserves all over the world some of which are right here in the US. Also much of these new methods can be used to rework old abandoned fields. We will have plenty of oil for decades.
I am not fan of the electrics or hybrids, they dont suit my life style, if they do yours then by all means.
You are aware the electric car was on a parallel development track as the ICE, a 100 years ago and still suffer the same problems today as they did back then, BATTERIES.Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

I hope your right about oil, but that's not what i've read about it.
And about batteries, yes they are a problem now, but you would be crazy to say that won't change, especially when there's such high demand for improved battery technology in everything from cell phones to cars now. Even in just the past decade batteries have improved drastically.Zinno '89 <24v swap in progress>
