I don't even get noticed so I would be very surprised if I get a compliment. People still think its an "old car." I prey all this new found attention won't also bring in higher theft rates like the Honda community.

I was in the Starbucks drive-thru and the hot barista said, "nice e30". I almost proposed on the spot.

You know what the best part is? My little brother (who just turned 17 last month) wanted an E30 for his first car. I never ONCE even told him he should get in to an E30 or BMWs at all. It was a proud moment and how he drives an 89 325iS and loves it.

I've been saying it for years: the e30 is the 2002 of our generation. Yeah there are the hipsters buying them since they're kind of an "it" car ATM, and they'll come and go. Then there are the guys like a lot of us on here who will still have ours 20, 30 years from now, or will buy one years down the road to bring back memories of the one they used to have.

Shit, my Lapisblau car (my keeper e30) is already almost 30 years old. Well past the point of being an "official" antique. Crazy to think about since they were still relatively current when I got into them. Think about an e46 as an antique, just seems weird...

As far as compliments? Meh, here and there. It's nice. What's obnoxious is the occasional "challenge" that comes my way from some fast & furious fanboy on the highway. I just ignore them until they move along.

thats my feeling exactly i don't want the BMW community to inherit all of the honda kid crap (robberies, cars getting stolen and stripped for parts, increased attention from the authorities) i kind of enjoy how e30s tend to fly under the radar and i kind of like that, hell there was a pop up smog station down the street from my house and the police were pulling over a bunch of rice mobiles, i just got a smile and a thumbs up from the cop and went on my way, i like that i don't want that to change. sorry if I'm some how being selfish

I basically live in a town full of rednecks. there are a few E30s but they're all pretty much trashed. In winter trim I don't get noticed much but i get a lot of stares, waves and offers to buy when I've got my summer wheels/tires and front spoiler mounted.

what's wierd to me is the VW guys always wave and are generally nice, but the E30 people I see pretend you don't exist. I don't get it.

eh. the whole stance fad is just taking from the euro wheel fitment that was done to E30s and other cars for decades prior. 16x9 wheels with a 205 tires stretched all around on a slammed car? it was being done when a lot of stance kids were still wearing diapers. Except the euro guys weren't purposely making their cars look like junkers. :p

People used to look at my e30 m3 like it was a spaceship or something lol.

The increased interest is apparent just by taking a quick glance at some of the ridiculous asking prices on POS e30's on craigslist. I feel that the craze is very similar to the 240sx craze when the whole drifting scene came to the U.S. and everyone marked up their 240's like they were made out of gold or something haha.
