And for those waiting in the wings, the new baby is a girl, so no-go on naming him Sebastian.

Since it's a girl, I suggested to my wife we could name her whatever Seb names his car this year, but she didn't go for it.
Guess i missed this post. Glad as Im sure your daughter is that you didnt go with vagina. ha ha

I stand corrected, apparently Briatore is still Webber's manager. I wasn't aware that his lifetime ban from Singapore '09 was rescinded (link).

I still don't see what his opinion on the situation adds to the argument though, especially considering he represents the victim of the situation, I think we can assume Briatore wouldn't have high marks for Vettel. His comments about Horner just make him seem like a bitter former team principal who is splitting hairs (particularly the comment about Newey accepting the constructor's trophy on the podium rather than Horner, I mean, really?)

Maybe it's the Vettel fan within me, not that I'm defending Seb's move last weekend, but it's interesting that everyone's up in arms about Malaysia 2013 but not Silverstone 2011:

Webber was instructed to hold position at P3, and not overtake Seb (P2); instead, he ignored the team order and attempted (and failed) to secure P2. Different circumstances, but it's not the first time that team orders have been ignored at RBR, let's not forget.

I do remember that and thought about posting it but it was irrelivant. The key difference is that Vettel was struggling and told the team to make Webber stay at bay...

Yeah, his comment about Webber being slow/needing him moved was pathetic (probably one of the few times I've heard a driver openly request team orders against another driver.) The Silverstone incident was under entirely different circumstances, granted, but I've heard so many people up in arms over the sheer fact that Vettel disobeyed his team that I think they forget that he isn't the first driver to do that.

Probably beating a dead horse by this point though; what's done is done, it was stupid, Vettal lost a ton of fans for it, but I put it at a similar stupidity level as the Alonso/Hamilton pit stop in Hungary in '07 or Piquet Jr's crash in Singapore in '08. And we'll forget about this stunt just as quickly as we did those examples.

It is interesting to see the evolving love/hate emotions that all of us have with certain drivers and teams. I imagine F1 does this to all of us. Vettel fanboys are feeling a bit embarrassed and defensive right now, and I must admit, I am enjoying the hell out of it. I may enjoy seeing certain drivers fail more than anything... When a favorite driver/team wins, it is more of a feeling of relief and redemption than joy.
I can't wait for the next race!!

It was a joke, you tard. Like I was really going to name my kid after a race car driver. Even if it did end up Sebastian, that's what we were going to name our first child if she was a boy, almost 8 years ago, before I even knew who he was. Got any more?

Oh ok my bad, thought you were a fanboy in denial. Not that their is anything wrong with having a mancrush. Sorry for the confusion on my end. I just thought it was a funny line, much like your vagina line was funny.

If massa continues to outqualify (last 4 races) and score Alonso it could make for very interesting racing in the ferrari and redbull teams. Could be a great year with so many teams having very equal ability drivers.

Flavio's comments are to be taken with a grain of salt, but the man isn't naive having run Benneton for back to back titles with Schumacher in 94 and 95 and the same with Alonso (as Renault) in 05 and 06. He knows F1 politics, he knows F1 team management, he knows primadonna driver management.. And, as The Flav said, it is clear that Horner does not have control of his team. To me he is a puppet team boss acting at the behest of Helmut Marko and Dietrich Mateschitz... and now, Seb Vettel.

Anyway, for me, it's not so much what Vettel did it's how he handled it post-race. If you're going to ignore team orders and do what you wish, then at least own it. Instead, he brushes it off as a mistake as if he ignored a local yellow or something. If you're going to play by yours rules, then call it and be a man about it.

I wanna see Webber, Massa, and Rosberg team up and call it the "Second Fiddle Alliance" and conspire against their team favorites.
