I bought my auto as a back-up car. I couldn't work on it at the time, so my landlord had it towed. I got a better job, and bought the same car again. I found r3v, and got inspired... I got it running (big thanks to any and everyone who helped).

Then I bought my 5sp, and it has been L-O-V-E ever since.

In 86' my friend showed up with a 86es that her dad had bought her and had taken to WPB for some mods, it has 16"BBS RS's Bilstein sports and lowering springs, it was all black, with skirts and a rear skirt, it looked bad ass, we'll she never let let anyone drive it the first couple of years, she was only 16 when she got it, fast foward to 92, her and I were going to see some friends, we had some beers, and I got to drive it, man that thing handled awsome, the way it rode, handled, shifted, the seats, and running through the gears was a blast,

so I went and got a 85e, sold that to my brother, got a 88 325 IS, after 10 yrs gave that to my dad with 275,xxx, bought my 88 M3 in 2000, it's in the garage, bought the wife a 08 528i in August, and my 90 IS in january, cant wait to get the 5 spd in it with coilovers in and my 16" BBS, just like the black car my friend Cristian had,

one morning she called right after I bought my e and told me how she traded the es in on a ford aerostar, I couldn't belive it,

In 84 my uncle was to be getting in a Baur Model Bmw for my older brother, brother then sold his 67 Fastback Mustang to pay for the BMW but the car didnt come so my dad went to Ocean BMW in Santa Monica I believe and bought my brother a white 318i.
Before I got my 86 es I drove the 318 for a short time.
Summer of 86 I got a red 325es and decked it all out(pictures of it posted in another thread). After that my buddy gets an M3 in 88 and it was all over after that. Man we had the BEST times ever with those two cars in high school.
In 1993 I traded my es in for a brand new black GMC Suburban 4x4.

I'd buy my old es in a heartbeat if I knew it was still alive and could locate it!

I remember when I got my permit just a few days after my 15th birthday, that all of a sudden I got really excited about the idea of being able to drive myself around. It hadn't hit me until I walked out of the DMV, but I remember going home and searching through craigslist for a worthy vessel.

At first I was looking at Audis and Subarus, because they're the standard cars that all kids try and aim for in Vermont if your not driving a lifted pickup; but since I didn't really know anything about ANY cars, I would just start googling models and combing their wikipedia pages and even forum posts for some information. This went on for a long time, after all, it was months before I even got my license, let alone enough weekends dishwashing to buy a car.

The first time I looked into an E30 it was $1200 4 door, 5 speed, color faded brilliantrot sitting in the snow with a flat tire and rusted steelies. And I wikipedia'd. And I was interested. I eventually found a good one about a year later and I've had it ever since.

This is all my dad's fault. He bought an e30 back in 91. I drive that car now. I remember not being able to look over the dash in that car when i was younger, but I loved it to death.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

A good friend of mine bought an 1984 318i when we were in high school, I was somewhat intrigued by the car, but never thought too much about it. After my first car was totaled, I looked at a variety of cars, I thought long and hard about an E36 M3. (the fact that I, as a Junior in High School, actually thought I could afford an E36 M3 still astounds me to this day) but I goofed and eventually settled for a '90 Nissan 300ZX. While my friend had just sold the 318i in favor of an '85 325e 4dr. I saw THAT car and thought "hmm.. I'd quite enjoy owning an e30." After searching the internet I decided i MUST own one. Flash forward one year, I sold my Nissan after stumbling across a 1991 318iS on bimmerforums. I did some research and knew that night, that was the e30 for me.

I remeber when I was really little the toy store FAO Schwartz had a little Red Vert E30 for kids I wanted so bad. Then a friend of my sisters had a cool Datsun 510 when I was like 7 that I still remember. When I was about 12 or so my cousin had a 318is (that was imported from Germany by his dad who was stationed there) that I used to steal and joyride in when he was at football practice. Then my bestfriend in HS bought a calypsorot 318 that was a blast to drive. Been hooke ever since. Then I dicovered the E34.

I was sick of constantly fixing VW's! Friend had an E30, turned me on to it, the rest is history.

Edit** And I also found the douche-baggery of R3V irresistible...

I always loved the look they have, been in the VW world for about 10 years and got bored so I sold my 1980 Caddy and bought one.

E30 is an awesome car !!

An old guy from the office bought a 86' in 89' from a friend. In 2008, he came to the office with it for a couple of days. I asked him if he wanted to sell it to me, he said yes...1 wek later I was taking it home. I never really E30 before I saw that one!
