    E30 Hood Opening Live On

Looks like the new F-Type has the same style of hood opening as the E30...

Most likely a tribute to the E Type.

It is inconceivable that any other car besides the E30 have it's hood open in this manner. BMW should sue the fur off jaguar asap.

Are you saying that anything with a clamshell hood besides an E30 is blasphemous and should be sued for copyright infringement?

That's right, including all the 1950s-era race cars in our shop and my old Triumph Spitfire!

Also, BMW should sue BMW Classic for the hood on the 2002.

The Corvette hood does not, and has never opened that way.

                Just putting it out there.

i have a question? the clamshell hoods are really cool but is there any practical purpose for them, I've heard that they are supposed to be safer if your hood latch breaks on the freeway, I've also heard that they are supposed to make the car easier too work on, do any of these ideas hold water?

I can vouch for the last 2 sparkplugs being easier to remove and replace. But I'm not to fond of changing the Distributor cap and rotor on the M20's. Other than that, it seems most other routine maintenance chores are "cake".

You can pretty much drive as fast as you want with the hood popped, whereas with a "normal" hood...

changing the dizzy is a pain in the ass only if you don't take the radiator out, which sucks because most of the time id rather be lazy and not bother pulling the radiator

                              I beg to differ.
1969 stingray corvette hood is a clamshell design.
