e21's have a better hood than e30s. It goes down to the body line.

The hood's not fully open in that first picture. The metal part is open but that plastic cover must have come un-glued and is still resting on the engine. Somebody should throw it away so we can see the engine.

lots of cars have clamshell hoods. Corvettes 63+, old Jags/MGs/Triumphs/80s GM sedans (Buick/Olds)

the argument that they are safer is BS. how many rear-hinged hood latches have you seen fly open? really?

Do we need a body count before proper hood-opening attitudes can be adopted in today's careless society?

actually, I know several people this has happened to at freeway speeds.

and even if you don't think they are safer, they're still cooler. :p

I drove a parts E30 10 miles to a shop to part it out, and the hood latch was rusted to hell. Took me about an hour to get the hood open, and when I did I didn't want to close it again. Drove it with the hood popped, got some pretty funny stares while I was on the freeway!

well a lot of volvos have a rear hinged hood, but the shocks are retardedly long so the hood can sit basically straight up. It makes it super easy to get in there, but doesnt help with the fact that everything about working on a volvo sucks.

The front hinged hood makes the e30s easy to spot at the jy. Other than that, meh...

90s era Hondas have a good hood design, the hood can lay all the way back against the windshield.

                                I miss the old BMW
