full disclosure: the guy who builds them is a friend of mine, who did much of the work on my car while i was deployed, and then a lot more work with me assisting after i got back.
i've been in his car when he intentionally bounces off of the plate going over dips in parking lots, speed bumps, etc... terrifying sound, but no ill effects.
also, the mounts on the ends of that cross-member are welded, not bolted, to the frame rails.past:
