Are you a "car meet" guy?

Depends on the group. I try and show up to meets every now and then but if I find I don't mesh with the regulars after a few times I usually don't come back. A lot of the time meets end up being pole swinging contests for who's spent the most on mods or who's the fastest on the freeway rather than chillin' and chatting over a common interest; those are the "meets" I skip.sigpic

I do not like going to shows of any nature. I enjoy hanging out and wrenching. I personally thought Gfest was boring. Only thing that made it worthwhile was the trip with my friends and seeing my long distance friends.
I have to report back once I go to a well sorted show. As I have been to only one big scale one. Gfest was nice to see people, but it felt unsorted and nothing to involve anyone. I heard that Bimmerfest was not worth the drive, so I did not attend that. I just do not really enjoy walking around looking at cars.

I have not been to an e30 meet, but I did go to a few vw meets when I first started getting into wrenching. Of course, the whole vw "World" (as much as I hate to state it as that) was completely different when it comes to people and how they were, so I'd assume an e30 meet would be great.
1st of all: You have your classic vws then you have the mk4 + vws. This is usually kids who get a ton of money to dump into a car. I dont have respect for that, I would much rather see someone rebuild an engine over a long span of time and learn as they go, rather then just throw all their money in one shot that they never really deserved. I didn't really meet people who were really that mechanically compentent, or really did much besides swap wheels and slam their cars. Respectfully, I know there are many talented vw enthusiasts out there, just I didnt meet any.
2nd was: Meet ups with people seemd really impersonal, whethor it be buying a part or a car meet. It seemed everyone was in a dog eat dog world, whethor it be whos car was better or a sale that they were pressed to do. Id say the majority of my e30 parts sales were all online, but the few meet ups I've had usually lead to some time bs'ing about eachothers cars and respect both ways.
3rd is: My car still isn't running, and even then it still looks like garbage. It is half primered/bondoed/base paint so I would be embarassed to show it. Maybe I really just overthink the point of meets because I always want my car to be where it is in my head, and that usually is not possible.Comment

A few years ago, I went all the time. It became the same old thing over and over again. The only way I would go now is if I joined a club and went as part of a crew.Comment

What many dont' realize is the POTENTIAL of the meets. I mean how many other ppl. do you meet there who are interested in what your into. Not only that, but it's a great way to network if your looking for a job or car mods, or maybe someone might be interested in buying your car or trading for something else you might be interested in. Maybe others might be able to help you find a job in the automotive industry etc.
Irregardless, I still don't goIf it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!Comment

I sometimes go but my cars been on and off jack stands for the past 8 months now. Can't leave it alone. I usually go for like 30 mins; walk around look at the cars say whats up to people I know then dip home. Don't really go around gawking and asking people things since I'd rather do actual research on my own.Comment

I've been to the bavauto show and shine twice with the e36 M3 i used to have, because it was pretty much pristine... i've never been to a car show or car meet with any of my e30's due to the fact that i feel there is always something about the car i don't want to "show off" aka rust etc so fuck that, i enjoy driving my e30's not so much showing them. maybe someday when i am in a position to be able to completely tear one down and rebuild it from the ground up with a new power plant...then maybe ill go to a car show or meetComment

I go to a weekly car meet here by my house at the Scottsdale Pavilions. It is about 5 min from my house. There is everything from hot rod , muscle cars, imports & bikes. Also the local car club AZBMW CREW is there too. I was really disappointed how unfriendly they were. All they wanted to do was mame a strong showing at the show witb cars. Noone made an effort to talk to me or be like "oh you have a bmw too" like I was expecting. I just found that weird. I tried to find someone with an e46 to ask questions about the cars with, nothing.
It was strange to me comimg from VWs where everyone circles around a new car showing up and asks a bunch of questions. Every other car person is friendly and will talk endlessly about cars, but not them. Hell I have more interaction with them online in the Facebook group.
I brought rachel to one of the meets and we just got bored and left.
I usually kill an hour there on a Saturday night then leave to do something else.
I would much rather go on a crusie with a bunch of cars honestly.seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen
