I've been to bimmerfest and some euro meet in Cerritos, but that's about it. Idk why I do go more often.. I always end up ranting about cars to my ball and chain, but then I get this glazed look of confusion. Also, non of my friends are really into cars, so I guess I can say I would go to a car meet/show just to get it out of my system haha.

Man some of you guys have it rough.

I love meets, e30 specific is super fun, BMW specific is cool, and all around car meets are fun as well, as long as I don't get in trouble with the popo by being rationalized with the morons breaking laws and driving around with there dick flapping in the wind.

I prefer the meet and greet and peek sorta meet, park the cars in a nice lot, hopefully near food or coffee, and go talk to people about there car, or jizz yourself over how awesome it is.

As for shows I've never seemd to care much, it could be fun given the right format. Like the fat lace classic. Super bummed I missed that, car show with public entry and a drift contest! Awesome.

I make it out to Sonoma raceway every Wednesday where I shoot photos of my friends drift cars, get ride alongs with them, and peep on all the sweet rides that show up to watch the drifts and drags. Sometimes I meet new BMW enthusiast and shoot the shit with them, I've met really cool BMW guys at the race track.

I don't understand what's not to like about a car meet if what your passionate about is cars....

At least around here. I love out of state events as its like a mini vacation to go hang with friends and meet new people.

It's true, meets are more fun if your friends are there! Luckily the majority of my close friends are in to cars and many of them BMWs. There's also that group of "car friends" that you look forward to seeing at the local meets.

The main meets I attend are Bimmerfest, SoCal Vintage, and the monthly Van Nuys meet. There will be others here and there but these days those are the meets I really look forward to. Bimmerfest and SoCal Vintage are great because they allow me to meet and catch up with "car friends" from all over the state, country, and sometimes world.

I used to go to local meets more often when I had the time in school, and when I had an Audi. I had a Mk5 GTI prior to the E30 and the VW crowd is not really my scene, plus I don't love the cars like I love BMWs and higher-end metal.

I stopped going to Waterfest and I think it sums up my thoughts on "shows" - the focus becomes on the sponsors and heavily modified shit I can't get close to bc of the crowd or velvet rope etc. My car gets parked in the "show" area but it's just a big parking lot that everyone abandons for the tents and vendor setups and whatnot. I'll put up with it for H2O probably, bc like blunt said it's kind of a mini-vacay and it's not so hot at that time of year.

I lived in Portland (OR) for a year and the scene is great, but I think most of r3v already knows that. Meets were fun, I didn't know a soul and met a bunch of good people. BMW CCA chapters in the PNW put on great events, and I enjoy the drives best. Now that my car is more complete I hope to get out to more events, though the east coast just doesn't have as many.

I'm mixed on it. I like going to shoot the shit for a couple hours every now and then but it can get old. The last c&c I went to was kinda lame, my car was the most modified of the bunch, nobody else even had a manual transmission. My wife made fun of them for all driving automatics when she DD's a manual. "You call yourselves car guys?!"

I do enjoy the networking aspect though, I've sold a lot of shift boots to people I've met at meets. I always have a couple in the trunk. ;)

I'll also agree with slammin, offroad meets are tons of fun. Before I got the E30 I had a lowered Dakota and went to both the car and truck meets. The truck ones were always more fun, some of the best ones were the ones we traveled for. I now have friends in Buffalo, NY that we go see every couple years.

I use to go to local meets all the time, mostly VW and BMWCCA meets. Then I had a kid. I wish I could go to more than I do now.

V@V, SOWO, H2O and the old SFLGTG are the types of shows I like to go to for reasons others have mentions, seeing old friends and mini vaca.

                    Occasionally.

Purely to make fun of hard parkers who like to do "Track mods" to their cars, then never take them to the track.

With that said, Lambo was out to Cali a few months back and I think he noticed that everyone here is pretty cool IRL., we're just douche-nozzles on the net, hell, sometimes we'll try to set something up if we got somebody from out of state, just so they feel welcomed.
                        THIS

I've organized a couple out of state meets already; besides that, no one comes out to the meets much, so I just use it as an excuse to meet up with friends (we're the "regular" crowd). The first meet we had was filled with a huge amount of anti-social doichenozzles, but thru have slowly trickled away to only include the chill, outgoing, and overly-friendly type.

That being said; yes I go to meets, but I only go of they are r3v sanctioned and I know friends/board members who are going. I wish we had something like Van Nuys here in NorCal

Anything other than that, I feel like I just show up and everyone's too out to act mad hard and doesn't talk or welcome me, even when I try to be friendly

Yeah dude! You're lucky to have such a large, relatively tight knit e30 community out there. I definitely plan on dropping by more in the near future haha! I need to make it out to BFest...

Right with you on that. Every once in we have what's called "The Joeys Meet". It usually all the same guys, at this bar/restaurant and it's more just shooting the shit; drinking a couple beers and trying to pick up on the hot waitresses.
