Alright so now I have a decision to make. I can let the car go or I can keep it and get chunk of money along with it. Anyone ever had to do the CHP inspection stuff or transfer to salvage? How much of a pain in the ass is it?

Well after doing some more research, I decided that I'm going to just take the settlement and bail out. Too many potential pitfalls in getting it back on the road to take the risk, plus I don't really have the time.

if you have space and some time, you can get it back and part it out

So you're going to let insurance take the car and scrap it? The buy back is probably $200. Buy it back!

Truth. You could make almost half of that back just by selling the front bumper.

Buy it back for sure. You can always buy a new project and use this one as a parts car easy then part what is left out. It might seem overwhelming having the car there as a constant reminder but after you cool off a bit you will be glad you kept it for whatever reason. I would assume buying it back from insurance would be cheap, you could probably still make a profit selling the whole thing on craigslist and let someone else part it out. My point being that it would benefit you more to keep it.

FYI from someone who has a brother in body repair, you can always get more money from insurance if you fight them for it.

Buy back is over 700 dollars. I have no where to store it to part it out. I'm also moving and don't want to throw money at it having to tow it around since it isn't drivable. If it was drivable it'd be a different story, but it's not.

                    THat's steep for a BIB.

At that cost, I'd scrap it too.

Yea...and once the salvage price is set in California, it's set. :-\

You should buy it back and part it. And if you do I call dibs on the hood and front fenders!

It's better than loosing it IMO..

It's funny how people always say part it out like everyone has a garage(or similar space) and tons of time to do that. I'm not wasting my time parting it out for half a year. It's not worth it.

                                I was just saying :)
I'd be willing to go and take the parts I need off it.
