4.10 LSD made a world of difference to an otherwise stock M20B23. Had to remove the rev limiter from the rotor button to hold gears a little longer though.
H&R Race/Bilstein Sport. Although I'm expecting that once I install the German Engineering coilovers I'll see a similar difference again.
Deleting power steering. Hoping it feels just as great with an unassisted E46 rack.
Getting my 5speed swap done. Laughed way too hard at myself when i pulled into a service station to gas up: when i restarted the car just held the brake and as it turned over just lurched forwards :D

1998 Toyota 4Runner Limited My 17,000km Big NA National Parks trip!
Buying my mint slicktop 318is with broken timing chain for $350.00 still gives me a good feeling thinking about it! Not really a mod but it modified my love for the E30.
Installing a 100hp wet Nitrous kit onto my 1995 Grand Prix and blowing it up on the way to school the next day. The manual said V6's were good for 100hp shots. Looking back I now see why putting the nozzle after the throttle body was a bad idea.
I've destroyed a few engines since, they all run amazing for those last few seconds. Only difference from that high school beater to now is my power output has been significantly higher as I go.

Five speed conversion on my '84 318i, which was actually my second e30. My first had been an '87 vert which at the time was less than ten years old and immaculate. I didn't know much about working on cars when I had that one, and didn't do anything to it other than cosmetics out of fear of screwing something up.
I got the 318 shortly after r3ving the vert, and it was a beater. Wasn't afraid of getting my hands dirty with that one at all. It's really the car that taught me to work on cars. I also got a job as shop bitch at an indy Euro car shop and worked my way up pretty quickly. By the time I did the conversion on my car I had done a few clutch jobs and auto trans replacements; perfect preparation for my swap.
When the time came, I ended up driving my car into the shop as an automatic and out as a manual the very same day, which was an awesome feeling. The rest, as they say, is history.
Going from a stock seta to a 2.7i was pretty big. Going from sealed beams to ellipsoids was like taking sunglasses off and actually being able to see at night
Doing all the work involved to upgrade to a GC/ Koni SA setup. Dialing in the suspension setup was quite gratifying once I took some long sweeping corners about 30 -40 mph faster than in the past with Bilstein Sports / HR Vert Specific Sport springs on all 4 corners.
Although I tend to look at the most challenging modification to be the one that is most inspiring. For that honor it was one that I rarely even get to see or enjoy . It involves grafting an E46 Rear LED third brake light into the rear of a coupe trunklid. Replaced the Vert trunk lid with that "ugly wart" of a third brakelight from the factory. Its the way the verts should have all rolled off the assembly line.
