That's a whole different subject, buuuuut I can kind of aee how theyre related.. For a majority of parts you listed, yes, they interchange. My 1989 325iS has an 1985 325e 5-speed in it. Most of everything interchanges, you just need to make sure you have the correct accompanying parts/accessories (driveshaft, throwout bearing, shift linkage, harnesses etc.)

You can even make stuff like early eS/iS/Zender/BBS/Alpina/etc. plastic valences work on late models with some modifications to the mounts. However, most of those already have Late Model counterparts, so you wouldn't really need to.

Stuff like early model Euro valences/bumpers also transfer fine over to early and late model USDM cars with the correct accompanying parts

So does the same thing apply between sedans and coupes?

Black (schwarz) '89 has contrasting diamond schwarz bumpers, i believe the only plastic bumper car to have mismatched bumper/body colors.

The black '89is is truly is the pinnacle of non M e30.

91 cars have no trunk tar. Maybe 1990 too, but I've never looked at one.

My '91 318is has the black "Shadowline" window trim though. So some model year 318is' had chrome?

All M42 powered cars had black trim.

FYI, pop-out windows will close automatically at about 90-100 mph. ;)

Some '90's also have no airbag. It depends on the production date. My '90 is a no airbag car.

For what it's worth, my '90 does have the trunk tar. I always thought that not having the tar was a 318is thing.

Not all m42 cars. The 318i didn't have shadow lined trim.

I'm skeptical. what's your build date?

I never really understood what people were talking about until I got a parts car with it. Then I realized my car never had it.

So does the same {driveline} thing apply between sedans and coupes?
