    I OFFICIALLY hate my engine

as the title states, I now officially hate my engine. I cant fucking wait to swap out my engine. for one this engine has NO power. (not saying this is true about all BMW engines, just mine in general) and two my idle keeps taking a shit on me, it use to rev high so I cleaned everything out and replaced some hoses and even got another ICV and it worked fine for a little while and now this piece of shit is jumping idle. as soon as I start my car it revs up to 3k rpm and comes back down to 1k, THEN it just jumps from 1k to 2k up & down up & down up & down. I had to drive to work like this on the fuckin freeway today. anyone got any suggestions? any help is appreciated.

You likely have a vacuum leak or a bad/dirty ICV. Have a smoke test done and fix any leaks.

Also, do a stomp test and see if there are any codes stored.

When the car is at operating temp and hot, spray some carb cleaner around the intake manifold area. Just hear if the motor changes sound and if it does you have a vacuum leak. If you dont want to pay for a smoke test.

Yeah. Not a fan of the M20 any more. It's loud, it's bitchy, and it's low on power... Oh well.

                      Change vacuum lines and ICV

If that does not work, s54 swap.

I think that's a direct quote from the Bentley manual.

Did you just have the battery disconnected? If so, engine has to relearn its idle, so rpms will go up and down occassionally for a few drives.

The Haynes manual lists the last step as S50US, it also states that the S50US is a real //M engine. Just another reason it's Bently manual ftw.

I will be a sad panda when my M20 dies.
If I/the car ever see that day. The body will probably just rot around it and the m20 will still be ticking along at 750k miles.
