This is why it's good to have a decent repertoire with your neighbors

I thought about getting a quick release for potential theft prevention, but then I figured most thieves would wing it with vice grips or something.
FWIW (or from what I understand anyway) the pros will come with a tow truck, under the guise of taking the car due to "illegal towing". Had this happen to a friends' car in his condo parking lot... it's amazing how many people will completely ignore others fucking with their neighbors' shit as long as there's a logo on the side of their truck.
Fuck Brinks, home security systems, cameras (ok maybe not always cameras, they do have their uses... for identifying tagged vehicles and unmasked suspects) and all that other crap, a good relationship with your neighbors will always be the front line defense against your shit getting stolen.

I am going for a hidden power switch, I have a bunch of wiring to do anyways, Any one have any thoughts on the best way?BTW,
I wired a fuel pump switch. Just cut the green wire coming from the fuel pump and splice in two wires to run to a switch. Hide the switch somewhere fancy and then feel okay. This, as people said, won't save you from a tow truck, but it's the next best thing and costs ~$15 and takes 30 minutes.
I did this because I went to an E30 after my RSX was stolen. Alarms work so long as the ECU and key set aren't replaced on a break in, like they were by the thieves.

I'm in a college town and all I have is the key for the ignition and trunk (they don't match as well) but I did wire up a wireless locking fob. I have no tint so I leave nothing, literally nothing in my car and take the faceplate off the radio. If someone gets into my car then their only intentions are to steal the damn thing, how can I help protect my car when I live in the dorms and don't have the keys? The saddest part is everyone knows my car and say it's literally the nicest one on campus:(1991 325i Calypso Coupe

Kill switches bitches.
I stupidly left my windows down over night before,
Came up to my car with all the coin in my ash tray missing, hand brake down, seats moved forward, and gear lever in 3rd gear ( I have no shift pattern map on it ) lol. I was pretty mad at myself, but laughed about it afterwards.

Can you swap your 6 button OBC for a 13 and still get this function to work?1991 325i Calypso Coupe

Key turns left 45 degrees to unlock all doors, trunk, gas filler.
Key turns right 45 degrees to lock all above.
Key turns right 90 degrees to lock and deadbolt all doors. This means even if they break a window and try to pull up on the lock button, they cannot open the doors. The door lock solenoids won't allow the doors to unlock. unless the mechanism fails ... like RUFFLZ described. If it fails you can pull the button up. I have one failed solenoid, so I know this from personal experience. That said, the above 'double lock' method is good too, locked garages are more difficult to slip into.
Good luck with getting the door locks back into operation. Hope the idiots move on to a more attractive car like a Range Rover or Accord. And get caught.
