    1) Raise car.

    4) Acquire girlfriend with less displacement or see (2,3)

Guess it doesn't really protect the drain plug, huh?

Well, decent springs with appropriate dampers, a skid plate, and recognizing what will hit hard before you get to it.

To reiterate what's been said, definitely change suspension. Especially stiffer shocks.

My car probably sits as low as yours does, maybe a half inch higher now, and I've had my skid plate on for at least 4 months. It only has one small scuff and a scratch. And I have m42 with their no bueno low oil pan. I've only scraped the plate twice (construction zone pothole) and never do on any speed bumps. I have GC coils and talked with mark and jay to make sure I was getting the proper spring rate and shock valving when they put it together for me.

I'm not saying everyone should spend a lot of money on suspension, but it's certainly worth every penny to make sure you have a good setup for what you use the car for and how low you like it. If you're scraping that much, you should raise it or upgrade to something better

Well it does, at least used to, but I hit it very hard somewhere so now its bent quite a bit. The oil pan bolt used to sit about an inch/inch and a half higher. Don't get me wrong the skid plate is real nice quality and helped me a lot, it's my own fault that it's the way it is right now.

I raised my car up today, now its 3 inches from the lip to the ground. Didn't hit anything so far, and don't scrape where I used to. Will be driving like that for a while until I raise my engine up and get stiffer springs. Thanks

That's the nice thing about being on 17's. Tuckin good amount of tire all the way round and still have great clearance, might have something with raised oil pan/tranny though. Just gotta be cautious that's the biggest thing.

ha. you're telling me an e30 lowered in excess won't have bad bumpsteer without caster/camber/roll center corrections?

                          hmm...glad i didn't go with Megan Racing..................

I've had a slammed (1in clearance) Honda (CB7) since high-school and i rarely hit anything let alone something that would cause severe damage. Seems like you need to watch the road better.

I think better suspension and more awareness while driving would have solved your issues. Get that shit on lock and drop that bitch back down. yo..

I too am wearing my asbestos underpants.

I'm sorry*, but lowering your car to the extent that to drive it in a normal fashion on normal roads requires the spring rate of a chunk of damp oak, a kidney belt, the eyes of an eagle, the reflexes of a snake and the adrenal glands of a rodent is just, I'm sorry*, dumb.

I grant you that my E30 has fender gap that would make a dump truck blush, but it came that way and I don't have to come to grinding halt for every bump, and I don't get stuck on wet grass. (Dear God man...)

I'm pretty sure Jefferson didn't say "The price of oil pans is eternal vigilance." but hey, I'm Canadian and could be wrong.

*I'm not actually sorry. Using "I'm sorry" that way is a form of passive-aggressive politesse in a grand tradition.

                                What, no flames?
                                I am disappointed.
                                Bump for flames.
Not only are my underpants asbestos, I just found out all my attic insulation and the tiles in my basement and second floor are asbestos too. Great, great.
