How much money have you invested in your E30(s)? I can imagine but I am curious as to actual figures and descriptions of what all cost the most. Some of you guys' cars look like they are quite invested in...

I wouldn't call money put into any car an investment, unless it is an extremely rare collector car and the value actually increases. ;)

as far as what I've put into my car.. I'm not sure exactly. I think I could ballpark about $10-12k though, not including the initial purchase. most of that is my current engine/tranny swap, and all the tires I've been through (toyo, yoko, falken, bridgestone, BFG, hoosier, etc). still needs paint and interior too! Honestly, I know it sounds like a lot, but not having a $450 monthly car payment over the last 4 years really adds up, and most of my big purchases are over (engine, suspension, etc).

My first E30: low mileage & modded '89 Lachsilber (wrecked it) - $7K

My second E30: high mileage & stock '89 Alpine (swapped many of the mods from the wrecked Lachsilber) - $4K

My third (and current) E30: decent & stock '91 Alpine, mods and track days included - $6K

So $17K into three cars over the course of five years.

but it has been only in $50 increments, so I have been able to pay my rent at the projects and only use Check-Into-Cash every couple of weeks.

Off the top of my head, I'd say maybe 7-8k, although my car sucks.

Drug addictions are worse, greens can go up in smoke faster than tires (if you don't burnout, which I don't anymore)

EDIT: I had to come back and point out this is my 2000th post, long live postwhorage!
