I've received many compliments, and I've had close to 30 people offer to buy it. Even a cop pulled me over one day - not because I did anything wrong, but wanted to know if I was selling - said he'd always wanted an E30 coupe.

I don't mind discussing more technical stuff with people, if it comes up in conversation. I'm definitely not an expert on the car, but I know enough and have gotten my hands dirty enough to have an intelligent conversation about it.

Best for me was an attractive woman who parked in the spot next to me as I was gathering what I needed before going into a store. We exited our cars at the same time. She say "cute car", and I thank her. As she turns to walk toward the store I can't help but check out her assets. Yoga pants and sport bra. She turns quickly, and says "sorry, you'd probably rather hear 'bitchen car'". To which I laugh. Hope I didn't seem to lecherous when she turned and caught me staring.

I only ever get old people telling me how expensive BMW parts are and that I should have bought american. or people asking if it's FWD.

I pretty much ignore everyone that tries to make conversation with me, it is just a laundry list of stupid shit they ask about the car. I just tell them it is a pile of shit and a garbage m42...it is a pile of shit and the m42 is garbage ;D

Get compliments on all the e30's. The crowd drawn depends on which one I'm in.

                    1. 91 Turbo 318is - Younger crowd and tuner/import type drivers
                    2. 87 Eta - All types just because it's so clean after the re-spray
                    3. 92 Vert - Mostly women and older crowd

I don't mind the attention... don't let a conversation about the car get too long though, but definitely don't get irritated either. My favorite reactions though are probably when I go to my local dealer. All the techs come out with phones and cameras to snap some shots. The service drive guys treat it like it's a $100,000 classic... much to the irritation of some of the $100,000 6'er owners. LOL

My 325 gets a ton of compliments, but the most enjoyable are from other e30 owners because they can actually hold a conversation about the car. Once I had a guy tell me he wants a 318 because it's power to weight makes it one of the fastest, another thought my euro bumpers were tucked diving boards hahah.

Other than that I'll get people telling me how they used to have one, those "nice beamer!" at gas stations and such. To the girls though it's usually "you have such a cute car" to where I feel almost uncomfortable saying thanks haha. Feels good getting your hard work noticed!

I love getting that from girls/women. Almost always answer with "No it's not... it's rugged and manly." Give 'em a wink while saying it and they usually chuckle. Then just say "thanks for the compliment" and continue on with my business.

maybe it's the diminutive size, relatively, of the E30 compared to it's modern land-barge brothers, that makes girls call it cute? I get that all the time too.
