I get pretty regular thumbs up (a few times a week), and the occasional oddity... like this note waiting for me in the grocery store parking lot...

It really has changed over the years. E30 has gone full circle past hipster status, then back again. I've driven these cars for 10 years. It comes in waves.

I've gotten some random kids/people at gas stations saying nice things in the last year. Old BMW's are catching the eyes on the younger people again.

I wish people would leave me alone about my cars. There was this super hot mom when I was with Abdu and Mike Carey and good lord did I want to take her out on a duffy boat and split a fine wine. She was in a Saab Wagon and had a 6-8 year old kid with her. But oh man, that smile could stop a World War. I was in the 1600 while Mike was driving the 74 tii.

I usually get stopped by old men in much nicer cars. I was offered $20k for the car about 10 months ago of which I said no. I bought that car for $1500. In total, I've probably received 15 offers to purchase, and about 60 guys strike up a conversation and tell me a story/simply inquire. RIP old girl.

You should have smashed her, not the car.

I'm joking, sorry for your loss dude. That car was gorgeous.

I get thumbs up when I drive around and the occasional person that has to stare at the car to the point they switch lanes or almost drive into a ditch and then the one person who actually did drive off the road half way. But I haven't driven it in the last year and a few months....Its kind of sad walking by it daily.

I have been told at shows/meets my car is "perfect" except for the automatic transmission. All I see is the flaws in the paint at the time.

I would have vigorously impregnated her AND called her for a second date/wedding combo.

But yeah on the 1600. I bought another 1600 that should more than make up for this loss.

Also, insurance offered me $21k for the 1600. That's not bad considering I didn't have classic car insurance.

I get the same flak when it comes to my auto. I have the excuse that it's a vert, so it's a cruiser.

My justification was that mine was a rust free, /mostly/ decent deal that I couldn't pass up.

Most freq from drivers of MUCH nicer Bimmers, thumbs up, and comments about keeping classics alive. I don't mind talking to them, I have gotten great deals on other E30s, because they "have no time, but can't bear thought of a scrapper buying it."Leads on parts, etc.

There is a very heavy concentration of German winter residents in Ft Myers/Naples area.(only time I can drive it with PO's AC delete option.) She gets lots of love from them. Chuckle at the snooty douchebags that are obviously checking it out, when you notice, they look down their nose from their 50 bazillion dollar Benz,Porsche, whatever, on their way to get a $1000 oil change.

Some dude in a brand new m5 was all over the e30 one day and a couple times I've revved it in the streets when someone gives me a thumbs up or something that isn't an e30 owner, kinda like "this is partly why these cars are awesome". One was to a honda bro he loved it and had a clean Si and the other was a dude on a jap bike who I gave thumbs up to as I went through a green light as he was waiting, and later he caught up and revved his engine so I revved mine it was great fun

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

I'm down. I've been told there's gonna be a big turnout. Might show up there to spectate and learn a few things about car control.
