It's an old car and many have high miles on them. Stuff breaks with age, its just a given.

You think the E30 is bad? Try driving a DSM daily... The majority of mechanical knowldge that I have gained came from nearly every part breaking on the few DSMs I have owned. The E30 however has been nice so far but you can never expect everything to be perfect when dealing with older cars, it just comes with the territory.
    Keep on Keepin' on.

how i see it. i enjoy working on my car and taking care of it. if something breaks,ya its a pita, but i'll fix it and enjoy the new part and have fun driving it and taking care of it.

i've driven many other cars and none of them compare to my e30. nothing drives or feels the same.

Nothing keeps me going, I just cant get my money back out of the car, so I do what I please with it, and have lots of fun.

My car would be a lot better if I put things back together after I take them apart, but oh well.

As for me My car is 20 years young with 246000 miles. I have owned her since November, total amount of time I have had the pleasure of driving her off my driveway (usually test to see if it makes it to the end of the street and back) = 4 weeks but I love her and rep everywhere I go.

I usually use my car as an excuse to not be the Designated Driver and works perfect. I don't have to pay for insurance, gas, tickets, It is the best!

I have vertually had to replace everything on the car that there is to replace. ie. front subframe, control arms w/ball joints, all tie rod ends, motor mounts, fuel filter, fuel pump, deleted blown up accumulator, bought a spare m20 to build up for it, rack and pinion, fixed tires, dynomax muffler, etc. I am pretty sure my E30 has givin me more problems in such a short period of time, cost me more money than virtually anyone here and I have never given a single doubtful thought in my head.

Unfortunate things that happend to my e30: No speedo, No temp, Fuel accumulator blown up, Bad Fuel pump(cuts out), Front subframe Cracked in half and bent control arms and Tie rods, Rack and pinion fell off my car and sent me into a ditch at a bridge, car died few times, overheat, Oil pan cracked from a pothole, everything with fluid in it leaks at every point, water pump went out, muffler fell off and replaced with a Dynomax and 2 weeks later on my way from Chicago to my dad's house to get ready to move to Orlando my exhaust fell off before the cat swung around ran over it and stuck out side of my car, etc. many other little mishaps.

Point of my little story is I can't wait to go back to Chicago and dump even more money into it. Currently forced to drive my dad's s10 down here in Orlando.

Look at it this way...most cars after their lease is up all this stuff breaks on their car...but you have a BMW that is 15-20 years YOUNG and this is just starting to give any trouble...Take Pride live long E30!

Biggest problem was a throw out bearing. but heck thats a part that needs replaceing eventualy. I also think parts for an e30 are pretty cheap. heck there already pretty much performance if you compair them to like another car company part.

What keeps me going is... walking up to my car with a smile. and leaving in a smile. and returing home and going inside looking at it with a smile. unless it broken. but thats rare for me. "preventive maintaince"

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

my car is dead right now, but I was able to use a friends 89 325i for today's autox - a very well setup car, wish my driving was up to its level. now it makes me want to get my car back on the road even more, it will be so much different with the 5 speed I doubt it will feel like the same car at all. also driving an 89 toyota truck (5 speed), which is okay except it's slow, the clutch feel is awful, it handles like ass, and the shifter is like 2 feet tall.. I want my E30 back!
