Another vote to go Focus ST..

I had a first gen Focus, and the new ones along with the Fiesta are fun machines to drive hard.

The Focus was and is a UK design, and so it's got a very sporty feel to it versus some of the other compact cars from Japan or even the US. And for a DD, they have a pretty damn good reputation for reliability.

I'm going to jump on the Focus bandwagon too. I've always loved them.

I worked for Ford in 04-06ish, I remember one of the Fords bragging points for the Focus was its German engineered rear suspension. Those old SVT Focus' were pretty cool in their day. Saw one throw a rod in stock form, under warranty, but the guy said he had all his maintenance done at the dealership.... We didn't have any record of the car, so it was probably a maintenance issue, but then again the motor wasn't filled with sludge either.

Either way, the new Focus is light years ahead of ANY domestic that was pumped out in that time frame.

My brother has a tdi, I don't wanna copy him lol. Plus everything that's happening with dieselgate. Focus st seems interesting to me. I'll have to do more research on it. I've also been toying around with getting a fiat 500 abarth. I at least want to test drive one.

Yep thats me. They're doing the head gasket and some head work on her. I either work all day or have school and I felt like working on a car on the streets of Norfolk at night was exactly the safest thing to do, so I had to outsource it and they came highly recommended.

I'm kind of in the same boat. Looking to get rid of the e38 and to get something new in the $25k range. The ecoboost mustang is really intriguing me at the moment. I really need to go and test drive one. I've heard good things about the focus st but I just can't get past the fact that it's just a hot hatch and seems too teenager-ish.

Also considering an accord sport as a reliable, no maintenance, safe option while I build the e30. Brz/frs: I quickly wrote off because every 20 something year old has one in this area, and they are not impressive to me.

Anything ecoboost would make a sweet DD in my opinion. The focus ST has 270ftlbs from 2000-4500 rpm, sounds great. Even an ecoboost f-150 would be awesome imo. Even though a 335i would also give you that massive amount of low rpm torque.

A little update, thinking about buying my friends s2000. AP1 Formula Red s2k with 100k miles, stock except swift springs and upgraded 4.44 differential. He said he would sell it to me for 9000 so this is very tempting.
                            Pros
                            Vert
                            Great handling
                            Honda reliability
                            Price
                            Get to hit 9k rpms
                            Cons:
                            Not the most comfortable daily
Probably won't drive my e30 as much

s2ks are fun cars, can't really hate on them, but they definitely sound like a horrible daily driver. Only 2 seats and not much storage space. I'd want something with 4 doors and space to put stuff.
