    My guess is Diesel

On NA motors, sure. In my application it just creates a smoother engine by holding off the small turbos. Fuck that, give me boost. 25psi by 32-3300 rpms? Yes please.

Its just the notion of it, no there is no feedback at all, and in application it prob is a better solution to a cable that fails. So I have no basis for this, as it relates to not liking it. Its stupid I admit.

the orange cluster lights. other cars now have orange too but its only a signature thing to BMW.

you can reference that this is what inspired the title of Frank Ocean's music album "Channel Orange".

personally I'm a fan of engines that don't need a throttle at all. :p
You know, I noticed when driving Fred's S54 car the torque seemed to fall off a bit at low rpm over 80% throttle or so, like it would peak around 70-80% throttle and adding more would limit the torque a bit. Perhaps he had a flash that got rid of the DBW programming that limited opening at low rpm?

Hey guys not to derail the discussion because its a great one but any ideas on parts that make Mini a Mini?

Again this isn't so much about a the feeling it gives you but more around what parts that are specific to these vehicles that allow them to give you that feeling.

Thanks again, this thread demonstrates what I love about r3v so much - the community.

yeah it could be. the Euro M3 tune came like that, and lots of people assume it's just better if you open it all the way. I had flashed it to JB325is's S54 and Dave Markert found it killed a bunch of low end. The stock US map limits it to 70-80% until higher RPM, which actually increases power because the velocity is better.

valvetronic is the same way. maximum valve lift is limited until about 2500rpm. unless you have a 328i then it's limited across the entire rev range. :p
