    that seems pretty crazy

1 barrel carb was a spec of the racing series at the time. Half of a two barrel weber was the best choice. The engine started life as out of a Ford Anglia and made 35hp. A very young tuning firm named Cosworth bored straight down through the water jackets and created much straighter intake ports and 100+hp. Notice the old intake ports in between the headers.

        Question -

        This is a Ford ecoboost.

Is it just the angle they sliced through the head, or does that intact tract neck down, and why? Some sort of air velocity effect?

That engine looks like a total bitch to work on. Look at all that random shit sticking out everywhere.

Oh, if you look at that closer, it splits into two tracts right there where it narrows down - 4 valve heads I assume?

Interesting the difference in size of the exhaust tract relative to intake right at the valves.

Definitely 4-valve, as is every other gas engine currently in production that isn't an ol' pushrod.

Yeah, and that is with the engine sitting outside of the car. Think about when that engine is in the car...there won't be any room to work on the engine.

Lorin's posts look very familiar to me... :D

I've got a few to share.

Bimota Tesi with center-hub steering and no fork:

                      Ford 100E flathead:

Bristol-build derivative of the BMW M328 inline six:

Coventry Climax FPF, as seen in Formula 1 and sports car racing:

                      Ford/Cosworth EC V8:

                      Judd V8:

Ford turbo quad-cam V8, used in the Lotus 93T

The classic Lotus-Ford Twin Cam, one of the most prolific and successful engines of the 1960s:

Ford quad-cam Indy V8, needs TLC:

Obviously a Cosworth DFV, found in a Surtees F1 car:

I have pictures of cars, too, but this is an engine thread ;)

Ferrari never made many 4-cylinders, but when they did, mmm mmmmm.

That pair of DCOA carbs is worth probably $10k.

It's the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama. It's our first time at the track here and we had a great weekend with the Lola-OSCA Mk1 and the two Elva 200s.

The last Ferrari 4-cylinder was in the 250TR, right?

Well, that's worth a trip. I can only identify a handful of those.

I think that might be in a 500 Mondial Spider (spyder?) or barchetta. I posted a pic of it in the Ferrari thread.

Definitely visit if you can, it's spectacular. I'll have to post the car pics in one of these threads.

The Mondial was at the latest concurrent with the 250, no? I thought those were from the early to mid-50s. Either way, it's been a while!

I'll label the engines as best I can when we're off the road for the night.
